I think the tough guy pose works! Nice buck.
-
Awww... I'm all broken up about this.
-
I drew the HAM hunt this year, but had the archery tag the last 2 years in 22.
-
4A & B Turkey and 22 HAM for us. Now if I could just figure this whole turkey thing out... Been drawn 5 or 6 times and never closed the deal

Somethings about to happen - can't check your bonus points or draw results anymore - the option is removed from the screen.

Of the choices given, I like the Mossy Oak Brush. My personal favorite is Mothwing Mountain Mimicry, though its tough to find. Core4element has a pretty decent one that is close to the Mothwing. ASAT is probably #2 on my list. Mossy Oak Treestand is another open pattern that a buddy of mine wears and it is good out here. I am not yet sold on the new Sitka Optifade stuff, but hear good things.

I think they may just take it all the way to the posted date.

Sweet! Looking forward to getting out for some coyotes this week.

Oh man... You do this right before Christmas? Decisions decisions. More stuff for the wife and kids or more stuff for me. Hmmm.

Do you use 10x binos for Big Game Hunting?
AZMThunter replied to BigWave's topic in Optics and tripods
Pentax 10x50 DCF WP's on my harness nearly 100% of the time. Swaro 15x56's on a Jim White head in the pack when I'm on the move, but broken out nearly every time I stop to glass anything. Will have the Swaro 20-60x80 spotter in the pack as well, depending on the country I'm hunting. I like the Pentax glass for the price, but would upgrade to some Swaro 8.5x42 EL's if the right deal came around. -
I can't believe this has taken so long from when the cards started getting hit... we count up and know the results of presidential elections with 120 million half literate voters faster than this. Man, waiting on the elk and antelope results is gonna suck if it's like this.

I don't see a problem buying a mount like this... If you enjoy it and want it, I say buy it and hang it on a wall. I have paintings on my wall and I didn't paint them. Someday, when I have my cabin, if I haven't been blessed with the chance to fill it up with my own mounts, I would add to my small collection with pieces that I bought. Might even be helping out someone who has stumbled on some hard times and is selling the less important stuff to take care of the important things. And, I would guess, some of the things that I have always wanted to add in my imaginary cabin, like mounts of squirrels, turkeys, ducks, etc. are probably more cost effective to buy from someone that no longer wants them than to have them mounted at a taxidermist. As for buying this particular mount... I haven't yet given up on the idea that I can get one myself.

Congrats man... that is great!

With as long as this is taking them for the spring draw results to come out, I am already dreading the month of April. Waiting this long to find out about elk and antelope is going to be punishing!

That was kinda fun. I did it like 5 times, so it will be interesting to see if I get 5 sets. Can't wait to slap these on my buddies gear.

Spent a lot of time hunting in those areas just below the rim, and that is a huge accomplishment. Nice job.
-
Never got to hunt with my dad... he had quit by the time I was old enough to start. You are a lucky kid, with a nice buck too.
-
Didn't get hit for that buffalo tag - turkey and jav will have to suffice.

Fur Handling after the kill

I have been wanting to try this as well. Looking forward to seeing the responses. -
And, in my humble opinion, the absolute BEST meat of any animal anywhere. Grandpa coming over after a dall hunt to cook dinner is one of my favorite memories of growing up in AK. Now that I live in one of the lower of the lower 48, seeing your rams on the wall seeems like a distant goal. Nice.

So I'm a little confused... people arent posting pics of their bucks because they fear someone can ID the area? I guess I get photoshopping any distinguishing features out of the background, but I have never heard of it being a big deal. As for me, if I get any photos of some gianty elk, standing or down, I think I'll post em up. Maybe I should be aware of not including landmarks in the pics, but my primary problem seems to be finding these giants a lot more than hiding their location.

I have swaro 15x56's, and one of my hunting buddies has the minox 15x58's (not the 56's). I have sat behing both pairs on tripods many early mornings and late evenings... I can't say that the swaro's are worth all that extra money or not. The minox 58's are great glass... with no disclaimer about the price. Just flat out good glass. If the 56's are like the 58's, I would recommend them to anyone.

So I am sitting with 6 BP's for deer... haven't been drawn since 2007 late Kaibab hunt with my oldest son, my father-in-law, and my uncle-in law (what a great hunt!) Would really like a chance at a whitetail, as I have yet to drop one. Been putting in for December hunts since that 07 tag. I am very familiar with 22N for elk but have not been up there in December... And though I have seen Coues while scouting and hunting elk, have not seen a big buck or high deer numbers. Other units I have spent substantial time in are 22S, 7W, 9, 6A (for jrs elk hunts primarily) 3B, 12AW, 19B (antelope hunts) - Maybe its just me, but Coues seem to elude me in all my scouting / hunting trips. So my question to the Coues experts here is where should I start doing some serious glassing while trying to determine where to apply later in 2012. I know all about those too lazy too put in their time, which is why I am asking now - I love scouting and glassing... Just looking for any insight I can get as to which units to focus on. I have put in for 23 and 22 the last two years, though I have never hunted 23 and not spent any real time in there. And it should go without saying, I'm not looking for anyones favorite spot or GPS coordinates... Just some general info. Thanks

Whats In A Name
AZMThunter replied to GameHauler's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
Being a resident here since 94, most of my hunting since has been here in AZ. Montana is my second favorite place in the world to hunt, so much so I bought a little land up there and hope to build a cabin one of these years. When I first started coming on this site, AZHunter was not available, so AZMTHunter was the second choice. I grew up in Alaska, though, so maybe I should have thrown that in... Spent 14 years in Washington... too much work. And yeah, gamehauler, taking my two sons hunting ranks right up there with my favorite memories... my youngest, 12, got his second deer this year. Could never get my daughter interested... She just didn't wanna go when she was young and at 16 is now too dang busy with school and volleyball. By the way, she lost to Gilbert in the D1 finals - not a happy kid! -
I keep hearing about these coatis', and occasionally see pics from you guys... Where can you see them? I am guessing they are mostly in the southern units, but a buddy thought he saw a couple while we were glassing for another friends antelope in 18B. Do they get that far north?
