Waiting to see that "draw successful" and permit number in the antelope line. Oh, wait, thats not till April that I will see that. Guess that "draw successful" next to the turkey and javelina will have to do.

55lbs for five days with hunting gear isn't bad... as long as you don't get over 30% of your body weight you should be fine. Sounds like a fun hunt.

I don't think there are leftover tags for 32... I looked after not getting a deer tag ;-) I hunted 32 a few years back, so let me know if you have been up there and already know the area or if you could use some places to start. That's a great hunt.

I've been using Slick Tricks, but have been considering a switch to Silver Flames.

Just pulled em up online - not drawn!

1161 Juniors Unit 33 Nov 18-24. Good for both of you.

6 points for deer now. Brutal. Hopefully next year for that December coues tag.

I got didly, but my youngest boy got an antlerless up on the Kaibab. He is pumped after getting his butt kicked all over unit 7 chasing a 160" 4x4 last year lol.

I have always kinda liked the suspense.

Just bite the bullet and get both LOL. I use my Swaro 15x56's the vast majority of the time when set up glassing. But the spotting scope (swaro 20-60x80)is always in the pack. When the 15's dont get me there, the spotter does. Bino's, for me anyway, are substantially more comfortable to sit behind for several hours than a spotter.

My oldest boy is down fighting the Monument Fire now... He said this morning that today should be a better one than the past couple. Lost a lot of structures down there. I'm sorry to all of those who have lost homes and special places - I'll be praying for you all.

I have a 12' x 20' Alaknak wall tent from Cabelas that I bought in 2002. Have over 300 nights of hard use from Arizona to Montana in that tent. I have indoor / outdoor carpet that we roll out prior to setting all the cots and tables up inside and it has kept the floor rip free. We also put tarps down prior to laying the tent out. With a medium size wood stove, we have been known to be sitting in shorts and t shirts playing yatzee inside that tent at minus 26 degrees outside. Not as heavy as canvas and has stood up to the AZ sun no problem. Zippers have never been a problem, Good ventilation when it warms up. We have slept up to 12 in this tent, but with cots, tables, and gear it has been good for 4-5 people on 10 day hunts. On an 4-5 day hunt, 6 people with gear is good. There is also a vestibule / entry way (11' x 17') that you can purchase separately to use as storage / cooking area, but sometimes finding space for just the 12' x 20' footprint is enough, so I have never purchased the entry. There are several different sizes to choose from... 12' x 12', 12' x 20', and 13' x 27' (I would have bought the bigger one, but 12' x 20' was the biggest one they had when I bought mine). Cost at the time, including poles, was around $900.00. I have been more than happy with the years I have out of this tent so far. Come to think of it, writing this has made me kind of miss it - hasn't been set up since my youngest boys deer hunt last year!

I have been considering 23 late as my first choice, 22 as my second... Though with only 5 points it does not look good, and I really would like to hunt deer again! Good luck in the draw - with seven points you have a pretty decent chance.
-
I was thinking the same thing!

Nice job young man! And a cool story to go along with the great pics! I have a 6A tag as well, and will have my bow in hand. Hopefully this year I will have similar results to you! (It would be a first for me - Toms and I don't seem to get along very well.) Congrats!

A pretty wise guy once told me (and I met him on this forum) that its a lot easier to hold out for that monster bull once you already have a nice bull on your wall.

Good thing you'll be gettin that refund check for the elk and goat... you're gonna need it for that round trip ticket to Kyrgyzstan!

11M Archery Bull 9/23-10/6 for me. The youngest boy got skunked... 11 year olds don't deal well with rejection. He got his 6a cow first day 2 years ago, no draw since. He is not impressed. One of my buddies drew an 18B goat tag - sweet.

I like the suspense every year of waiting to see when the results will come out. The older my kids get, the less anticipation for Christmas morning there is every year. This kind of stuff gives me a little taste of that feeling from when I was a kid and couldn't wait for Christmas (Or my Boys Life magazine, or my secret decoder ring to come in the mail, etc.) We get so few genuine surprises anymore. This is just a little one that helps me keep in touch with that inner kid.

Just sent my 2 cents in to AZGFD.

I find it more than a little ironic that the ranch has applied to SLD for a road right-of-way across the state land while denying the same on their privately held land. Is foot-only traffic also banned on the ranch? Even just to cross to public land? This is the first time I have really looked at the checkerboard / cornerpost crossing issue. what a mess.

Thats too bad. I was drawn for that hunt in 2007, and both my oldest son and I got great goats that year from that unit. Though I didn't expect to get drawn this year, I feel for all those that have been waiting so long and now will wait some more. Do any of you all know which map I would look at to see exactly what is affected?
-
I am confused as to how the draw will proceed given this new development. Do the applicants that had 2022 as their first choice now just have their #2 choice go to the top and the draw proceeds as normal?
-
Ouch... I had hunt #2022 as my first choice. My odds for an antelope tag cannot have improved.

Welcome to the site and congrats on the buck!
