I have used PYN (Patrick Newman) in San Manuel on several animals. He does excellent work. He has done Coues, Mule Deer and Elk so far and I drew Desert Sheep this year and if I am successful he will be doing that also.

As far as the data goes for the turret, the only thing I use any pre printed data for is to get close then I dope them at each yardage to zero and verify. Good Luck

Did you happen to see any Sheep while at Lake Powell. I have a sheep tag there this year.

I just thought that I would let people know of the service I just received from Leupold. I had an older model Leupold 6-18x40 and the power ring was getting very stiff. I could not turn it very easily. I called and asked if there was some way to lubricate it or what. They said to send it in to them and they would look at it and that sometimes it is an O ring that is getting worn out. I sent them ths scope and they received it on May 28th. I had done tracking on the package so that I knew when it got there. I received the scope back on my porch on June 4th all fixed. I received a letter in the mail on June 5th stating they had received the scope on the 28th and it would take 10 to 15 days to complete. I got the scope even before the letter. The scope works great now and there was no cost involved other than the shipping it to them. I am very pleased with the servie and the turn around time. I will conitnue to use their products.

As far as the Tinnitis issue goes there is not a lot they can do about it. Some say vitamins etc but I have had it for years and just try to tune it out. Of course that does not always work. To say that it is a pain in the butt would be an understatement. I am 57 and my wife says that I need the hearing aids. I always just say what I can't hear you. I tried some of the digital out for a month test run about five years ago and when we went anyplace to eat it was scary how much I heard, even things I did not want to hear. The problem I found was that it amplified the background noise so much that I could not stand it. I have gotten enough worse that I think I am going to have to try them again. Maybe it will help me hear the Desert Bighorns crashing their horns together on my hunt this fall. Oh well I guess I have to admit I am getting older even if I don't feel like I am.

Here is a photo of the muley sheds that my nephew, two friends and I found last weekend. We spent about a day and a half looking and came up with 130 sheds. As you can see they were mostly whites with a few browns sprinkled in. A few nice bucks but no monsters on this trip. Sorry I added the same photo twice.

We only saw one deer packing one side. All the rest were bald. We just did not hit the area they were in to shed this year. We did find about 8 or 10 fresh but in the sage brush area we were in it would be easy to walk right past the fresh since the white are so much easier to see. We did three pretty long walks in a day and a half. On the last one my buddy set his GPS and it showed that he traveled a little over five miles on that trip. The other two were similar. We found them all in Nevada.

When it rains it pours. I just found out that another daughter drew a Deseret Antelope tag. So that means I will be hunting two antelope, one elk, one moose and one desert sheep this fall. Not sure how it will all happen but I guess we will make it work somehow.

If you call your credit card company they will tell you if you have a pending charge for Utah draws. I just got off the phone and apparently I drew a Utah Desert Sheep tag. My wife drew Utah moose and my daughter drew a limited entry Utah rifle elk tag. I never in my wildest dreams thought that I would wonder how I could accomplish that many tags at one time. If only we had not spend the money and planned to go to Disneyland next month it would have been a little better. I guess I will have to figure it out somehow. Good luck to you all.

What next a white buffalo? That is very cool. I am about as old as dirt and I never seem to find anything like that. Maybe I should invite you on my Desert Sheep hunt this year and you can find me a nice big white ram. Way to go.

No Houston it was it was one of my other daughters. I am thinking they put in for points only this year due to the whole house thing and all.

After hearing through the grapevine my supervisor sent out an email saying that due to the economy etc that all vacations in the fall had been canceled. I sent him one back saying, then consider this my notice of retirement. Good thing he was only joking or I would be gone for sure. I have enough time in but of course I don't have enough money socked away yet.

I also forgot that I am pretty much guaranteed to draw my Wyoming Antelope tag also. When it rains it definately pours.

Well batting 100% in the not drawn category. Oh well I guess bonus points are better than nothing. Not by much though.

There is a lot of public ground but it does depend a little on the unit drawn of course. Some of the units in Eastern Wyoming has a lot of private but most of the west has a lot of public. There is a lot of oil company property but most of it is huntable.

Take a look at the Panasonic SER-S26. It is a very small compact but it has a 70x optical zoom. I sold my Canon GL1 this winter and bought this one. I have only used it a couple of times so far but what I have seen I really like it. I shot some video of some Rocky Mountain Bighorn sheep from about 300 yards away and I was very happy. Obviously when you get to the highest power and are as old as I am a tripod is needed. I can't wait to use it on a hunt from the tripod and see how well it works. With the Canon and the digital zoom when you got to the higher powers it became very grainy. With this one it does not do that since it is optical. This model takes a regular SD card so it is easy to store a lot of video in a small space and since there are no moving parts with a tape etc the battery seems to last rather long. This is not an HD so if you are looking at broadcast quality that the tv shows are looking for it would cost a lot more. But for personal used You Tube etc. it will work great. I bought it from Best Buy for a little over $200. I believe the regular price without being on sale is still under $300. Just my two cents worth. Good luck

Being from Utah and also becoming a Coues addict it was nice to meet Amanda and Jim at their booth at the Expo. Quite an impressive collection of whitetail. One of the best booths there. Thanks for the sticker Amanda. It will be nice to have one of the few up in this area. Good luck at the expo!!

Great story. Even though I never had any sons it definately reminds me of the outings that I had with my girls. They have all enjoyed the hunt and success with each killing animals of their own and now I get to start with the grandkids. It is very nice to see the effort that was put into this hunt and the memories that you have given to the boys. I am a Probation Officer and it really makes me wonder how many of my offenders lives would of or could have been different if they had been able to have that same experience. Keep them hunting with you and you will most likely not have to hunt them. Congrats!!!
