Dang it! Close but no cigar! But all was well, my daughter (a sophomore at UA) was watching with us. It was a blast! I can't believe I'm a Sun Devil and looking forward to basketball season. The times, they are a-changin'.

Wow! What a find! Big rack and great color. Thanks for posting.

Soak the skull in some hydrogen peroxide to whiten it a bit (how long you soak depends on the concentration of H2O2 you have) but leave the antlers as is. Then you can put it on a wall or on a dresser or bookshelf or anywhere in the boys' room. It'll look cool. And for goodness sake don't listen to advice from the Internets. Oh, wait, never mind. Seriously, though, I think that'll work. Let us know what you do.

Beautiful animals. Those mounts look great. Looks like triple eye guards on the mulie. I've never seen that before.

+ 1 And may ASU beat The Evil Empire (USC) in your honor.

Sweet pics! Look like some awesome bucks but that palmated buck would be hard to pass up. Good luck! Thanks for posting.

daughters 1ST COUES HUNT

Way to go Brittany! -
Great pictures, as always, RR. I think the drake wood duck is the most beautiful bird in the world and your picture captured it. I didn't even know they were found in Arizona. Thanks for posting.

Wow! The video of the lions is awesome! Thanks for posting!

I was gonna guess 'wombat' but 'possum is probably the better guess in an Occam's razor sort of way. Great pics! Thanks for posting. -
I think this qualifies as "miscellaneous" but probably not "related to Coues Deer." It's an article about those new-fangled emergency beacons and calls them "Yuppie 911" because people hit the button when they get uncomfortable as opposed to when they really need rescuing. One group hit the button 3X on one trip and after the 3rd helicopter showed up they were escorted aboard involuntarily. Oh, and there's also the wilderness version of "butt dialing" where the beacon gets accidently activated on a pack. Anywho, here it is: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/33470581/ns/us_news-life/

+ 1 - And good catch on that deer behind him. I had to enlarge the pic to see it at first. Great picture. Thanks for posting it.

Incredible is right! I looked at that found myself grinning in awe of what a human on a bike can do. Give me that bike, all the training in the world, and a million years to practice AND make me immortal so I could survive breaking my neck, impaling myself, etc. and I'd never get close to that. I think I'm a trick rider when I ride off a curb mid-block where there are no wheelchair curb cuts. And even then, I've come close to biting it. Thanks for posting.

WOW!

Beautiful color. Dropped this spring, I'm guessing, but looks brand spankin' new. Thanks for posting.

DUMB
Jimmer Negamanee replied to Non-Typical Solutions's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
That's gol dang funny right there! What part of "Keep your finger off the trigger." or, in the alternative, "Assume every gun is loaded." is the hardest to understand? I 'specially loved the 'family reunion' comment. After all, what a family gathering without an accidental discharge? It's all fun and games til someone...oh, nevermind. -
Hypothetical Question
Jimmer Negamanee replied to GameHauler's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
Interesting question. I think the hunter in that situation would be morally obligated to retrieve the animal. A dispatching shot the next morning may complicate things legally but not morally. I analogize it to a buzzer beating shot in basket ball. As long as the ball leaves the players hands before the buzzer, if the shot goes in it counts. I’ve thought of this before in a slightly different context. What if you make a less than perfect shot and the animal runs into the adjacent hunt unit? I think the hunter is still morally obligated to retrieve the animal but, like your hypo, a dispatching shot complicates things. I think your hypo is a far more likely scenario though. Thanks for posting it. I like your idea of calling the WM. It’s a good number to have with you. You’d get better direction from the WM than from talking to someone at the G&F switchboard. Perhaps someone who’s familiar with the legal implications will chime in. -
Can't we all just come together as members of the PAC-10 and hope that my beloved Sun Devils win a moral victory (beat the spread) in Athens tomorrow as the Sun Devils (David) take on the #21 ranked and perennial SEC power house Georgia Bulldogs (Goliath)? Oh, who am I kidding? The Territorial Cup is the oldest trophy given for a rivalry game. You don't get that by cooperating. This one goes out to you, Ajohunter: "ASU! ASU! ASU!" I'll never wear a ball cap with an "A" on it in your deer camp again, even if it is desert camo.

Seeing Deer but confused...?
Jimmer Negamanee replied to Hunter1432's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
I think you’re less confused than you think. Keep glassing with the optics you have while you save, save, save, for high end glass. (But make sure what you have is on a tri-pod.) Someone on here, and I don’t know who it was (maybe many people), said "If you buy the best, you only cry once." But in the meantime, keep doing what you’re doing. You’re getting your eyes used to seeing deer and, more importantly, parts of deer. Although optics are important, I know many people who grew up out here and who through years of scrambling around the hills and canyons, learned the skill and patience to glass up more deer with two coke bottles duck taped together than I can through my used, but “high end” glass. You’re getting invaluable practice. I’m from the Midwest too (Michigan). The transition to Western hunting is not easy but is worth it. In the West, we have vast expanses of public lands where you never have to ask permission to hunt. The density of animals is lower and the earth seems naked without out all the foliage but it is a rugged beauty that you will grow to love. Enjoy the West. Enjoy the wildlands. Enjoy the freedom! (But don’t listen to me. I have only one coues deer to my credit. And it was a spike, a tasty, tasty, spike.) -
Wow, that buck is TALL! Thanks for posting these great pics and welcome to CWT.com.

+ 1 Great pictures! And putting them in context really helps. Thanks!
