On page 37 of last years guide you have the Region 5 Outdoorsmans Top Pick in the taxidermist section listed as Trails End Wildlife Art. Do us all a favor and just don't list them in the book at all. Believe me when I say that listing them won't help your puplications credibility at all. This past summer there was a discussion right here on CWT regarding this paticular taxidermist. I personally started the topic by posting a picture of a life size mountain lion that Greg Mcbride at Trails End Wildlife Art mounted for me and I asked for peoples opinions of his work. To say the response was OVERWHELMINGLY negative would be an under statement. In just a short time there were literally hundreds of responses all of which were in agreement that the taxidermy work not only sucked, but was also the worst that many folks had ever seen. Sadly the post had to be nuked because a few people got out of line, but before it was all over it was the largest topic ever posted in the history of the site. Trust me on this one!!!

TAM replied to talltines's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
No one has mentioned it yet, but just in case your interested, you are allowed to shoot one per calendar year in Arizona. No special tag is required, just your hunting license. I don't think you'd want to eat one, but they do make a nice looking lifesize mount and a I'm sure it would be a fun conversation piece with all your Minnesota buddies. -
Nice bucks and great hunt stories... Congratulations to both of you!!!

Those soda can stoves are pretty cool. I've used them for years. They're simple, light weight, very inexpensive to make and work very well.

I have for sale a custom 30-378 weatherby mag built on a Sako M995 action with a 30", stainless, fluted, Lilja 1:10 twist barrel with break. Action is fully bedded and the trigger is crisp with no creep. Also included are 30mm rings and bases and 80+ rounds of hand loaded ammo. Shoots sub 1/2" MOA with less than 200 rounds down the tube. How do you lke those JLK's? Ive never seen anything get hit with one. Does the stiller action have a longer magazine box to fit those bullets? I've killed three animals with them so far and have been very happy with the results. They are built with the same jackets and using the same exact process as Bergers so the truth is they perform pretty much the same way that Bergers do. With the 5 animals I've shot or seen shot with them only twice has the bulled exited the animal and that was on a 526 yard shot I made on an antelope in New Mexico and my son's small buck at under 100 yards. If you look at the picture below of the exit hole you can see it's the size of a golf ball. With a BC of .680, groups in the .3's, and devistating results on animals it's pretty much a no brainer! I'll be heading to Colorado at the end of the week for a mule deer hunt. My two hunting buddies and myself are all using them. I'll try to get some more pic's and report back on the results. As stated above me the magazine cut out is extended. The OAL for this load is 3.735 and they fit just fine.

Here's my custom LR rifle. It's a 300 RUM built by Todd Bettin. Stillar Predator action, with a Schilen cut rifle ABS carbon wrapped 28" barrel and break. Lone Wolf Howler stock with a Huskemaw scope. Shooting a 210 JLK bullet over 92.2 grains of Retumbo @ 3185 fps. So far I've taken a coues at 190 yards, a mule deer at 515 yards, and an antelope at 526 yards.

Gino,A big congratulations to both you and Tina!!! If you're looking for a taxidermist to do a lifesize mount on that lion I know this guy...
-
Great Job! I can't wait to see how Scott does and read the story.
-
So if I'm shooting a 403 grain arrow at 325 fps how can I calculate how much kenetic energy my arrow has at say 100 yards? Seems like there are a lot of calculators that will tell me my arrows KE at the starting line, but what about down range?

Sounds like the perfect hunt to me! JT's first buck, your brothers biggest buck, your daughter in her first deer camp, family and friends in camp. It just doesn't get any better than that!!!
