You let your dogs $hit on the floor? Seriously, that's crazy. Glad no one got hurt and that everything is working out.

Kinda funny reading this post. It's like asking which is better Ford, Chevy, or Dodge? Of course everyone thinks theirs is the best set up in the universe. The truth is that there is no "one size fits all" scope out there that will work perfect in every situation. There are a lot of great scopes that will do a fantastic job for different situations, but there isn't one scope that will do it all. It's like comparing a Jeep to a Ferrari. Casey & Mike, the Conquest's are awesome scopes. I myself like the X50's, but then again I've got the 6-18 power. In the 4-14 model the X44 would probably be sufficiant, but I like to shoot long and like to have both the extra power and light gathering. Casey, I'm a little surprised you say they are expensive? Swaro's and Night Force are expensive... Conquests can't be touched at their price point! I also own a Nikon Monarch and think that for the money it's a really good scope. Take a look at the Vortex line as well. I put one on my muzzleloader this year and was very impressed with the quality and clarity. For the really long stuff... I don't think that for hunting situations the Huskemaw can be beat. There are some other great products out there, but the Huskemaw system is high quality, fast, and extremely effective in the field. Just range, dial, and shoot! Good luck... whatever decision you make!!!

The truth is that any of the bullets mentioned fired from a 300 RUM will be fine for coues deer at normal ranges. I would try several different brands and loads and figure out which one is the most accurate out of your rifle and go with it.

Anyone using the Vortex Viper Scope???
TAM replied to scoutpylot's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
I put a Vortex Viper 3-9 X 40 on my TC Encore and love it! I have been very impressed with the clarity and sharpness of the picture. The scope seems to be built very well and although I've not had any reason to use the warranty it's pretty much the best around. I also got mine from Doug at Camera Land and got a great deal. Good luck!
