  1. Dont be fooled there are some small mouth bass in the area that you are going to. I have fished many years just east of the confluance of the black and white and have caught some dandy's..... I have caught them off of jigs, top water baits and spinners... and for Trout little meps spinners and a smaill cast master seem to work great.

    Meat processing?

I dont know.. I had a really bad experience with a processer. When I got my elk back the meat tasted really bad, I eneded up throwing it all away, I hate to waste an animal but I didnt have a choice, later I found out that the guy that owned it was shut down for running a meth lab in his shop... I then decided to butcher all of my own animals, I have a sausage maker and meat grinder and its a little bit of work but I feel that it is worth it..... And then you dont have to wait on the butcher.

    2006 Deer tag Filled!

Well the story is... mostly luck ha ha... I went down to my hunting unit which is 40a on friday night. On saturday morning I hiked back into this canyon and did some glassing mostly looking for muleys, moved a little further down did some glassing and so on and so forth.. then I happened to walk up this small finger staring to glass into it and about the same time my buck stood up out of his bed and stuck out like a sore thumb, he started meandering through the brush only about 100 yards away, right away I saw his tail and antlers and since it would of been my 1st coues I didnt hesitate one bit. Sorry about not posting a hunting story I was just in town for a little bit. I spent the rest of my hunt helping out a good friend of mine gr8 wht jr down in unit 33, he actually tagged a nice 5x2 yesterday a little goofey on his right side but a good buck non the less, but I will let him tell that story.....
  12. The doe in the 2nd picture of the muley she is out in the open but still is blending in really good....maybe its just all of the focus is on the toad!

    Unit 33

Being in shape is not a problem for this cat... hiking many of miles have never been a problem... Believe me... I have never seen anyone work as hard for an animal... We Do a lot and I mean a lot of hunting together. If it wasnt for my hunt in another unit I would be hoofing the hills right next to him... Gotta try to fill my tag early and then head on over to unit 33

  25. Me and my good friend Tracy decided to head out and about this weekend to do some varmit calling, since it was the last weekend for bobcats and foxes. Our first set, after about 5 minutes of calling, we had three coyotes that came in, which Tracy dropped one at about 250 yards with his 22-250. We then moved to another location that looked extreamly good, and started a 2nd set, as we were sititng and watching, before the 1st blow of the call, A big bodied mule deer stood up from its bed just about 20 yards from us out of a wash, and proceeded to walk away... so far its been a great morning. It started to warm up pretty quickly, and then we decieded to go for a drive a little father up north, to get into more cooler weather. We did some sets up in the pines with no luck. We tried to go up a road that was covered with ice and snow, and unfortunatly we were unable to travel to where we wanted to, Thankfully. We were then driving to another location, where we passed a little atv trail. As we passed the trail all I saw was a tail, and the 1st thing that went of into my mind, was a coyote. I then shouted coyote and tracy stopped the truck and we bailed out of it as fast as possible. We were walking down this trail to hopefully find or at least see this coyote, At 1st I thought I heard some movement to the right, so I stopped to head back to check it out, as I turned I caught the glimpse of a body part. and As I stepped back to take a look at it, I was looking into the eyes of a mountain lion, in the pounced position about 5 feet from me. I then pulled up my rifle and fired!!!! The Lion imediatly rolled over spun around and took off through the thick manzanita brush. We then waited about 15-20 minutes before heading back in there. With both of our pistols drawn we followed the blood trail for about 45 minuts. This area was so thick that it took us that long to only travel about 30-40 yards. We found the cat and I am still extreamly excited, Its not the biggest lion, but it is my first. Thankfully I had my marlin 450 lever action which has iron sights and it allowed me to aim extreamly quickly. I am the one on the left.
