  1. Like I said last year when we had this conversation, the raffle tag's are the lessor evil of the auction tags.I would rather they increase the tag fees to get the extra money. The reason is if I had put in as a resident for a hunt for 15 years and finally got drawn and I had scouted a world class animal,it would be tough to see a auction or raffle tag shoot that animal before any regular season has started.I am sure that this has happend to some hunters in the past.

  2. I shot one back in high school when baiting was legal in Arizona. He scored 20 10/16 after boiling the crap out of him.I did not know about the beatles at ASU.or soaking him in a bucket for a few weeks. The boone and crockett scorer said it probally would have been at least 21.My mistake.Baiting is a whole lot of work, but very effective.I do not think I would want to shoot another bear in Arizona unless it was spot and stalk with a bow,or call one in and shoot him with a bow.

  3. dang,I have the same pair.I hope I do not have to send them back.I have a pair of the first 10x40 swaros. ever made,25 years old.We bought about 10 pairs for a package deal of $350 each. I sent them back for replacing the lens (25 years of scratches). They told me I would have to pay for them because it was self-inflicted.I had no problem with that.I was really surprised when the person called me back and said they were not going to charge me anything because My family and I had been such loyal customers. There is no dought in my mind that swaros.have the best warranty. The only reason I have the 15x60 zeiss is my dad gave them to me after he bought the 15x60 swaros.

  4. I am not talking about the wealthy people who own the oil companys.I am talking about the regular people like us.We do waste gas in America. And like somebody else said we use 25% of the oil in the world. It is called supply and demand.I do not like paying these high prices any more then you do.My point was that we could do a lot better job of wasting gas.Which maybe if the demand went down the price might follow.

  5. We are greedy in the United States.Other countrys do not drive big ford Excursions and go full blast from stop light to stop light.Which equates to about 8 miles a gallon in the city.We are known as wastefull to other countrys. My Truck is only used for hunting, fishing, and camping.I drive a car that gets 30 on the highway.Unless you drive like 70% of Americans with there foot in the gas peddle. Then I probally would drop 8 miles a gallon.Just my two cents.

  6. I am a Farmers insurance agent.I know to well of the situation you are in.People driving without insurance is one of the main reasons the cost has gotten so high in Arizona. And without a police report in your favor, you may be out of luck getting your accident coded as non-fault from your company. You need to find out if it is going to raise your rates from your agent before making the claim to see if it is worth it.

  7. Bill,

When we age our wild meat we cut out the bone and all of the fat before we age it.If you do not do this it can make it stronger. Also the only reason we do it is to make it more tender. It does nothing for the taste. And the younger animals we do not age as long.I usually only age whitetail for about five days. But a big bull elk I will age as long as I can.

  8. We have been butchering our own meat for 40 years. As Bill and lark said water is your friend. The only thing we ever took to the butcher was the elk that was to be ground in to burger. Then a few years ago I bought a commercial grinder and we do that also.I always used to mix in 10% beef fat ,but now I grind the elk with no fat at all.You would be surprised that it is not dry as long as you cook it right. And I have been told that most of the steriods/ hormones and insectisides from domestic animals are stored in the fat.Another thing we do is buy big used chest freezers and put thermostats in them so we can age our meat at least 10 days before cutting and freezing. Also it is not in your best interest to freeze, defrost, and then freeze again. Although I know that some of the butchers do this. They do it because they have to.Also I cut all fat off animals and not one of my steaks have any bone in them. Both of these will give strong taste after only a short period of time in the freezer.

  9. I had a three legged dog.He could still run and jump just fine.Poor boy was born with four and then got down to three after car hit him.He could still jump the fence and go to the local bar and get peanuts from the customers. Our neihbor is the one who told us when Our family would be at work and school he would go to the bar during the middle of the day and come home before we got back.I guess he was quite a hit with the regulars.

  10. Not for me.Finding a monster animal is not worth the chance of loosing my life.My God and family are way more important then hunting.Any body else can do want they want.I do think it does take some of the accomplishments away from a famous hunter,If this is how he has found some of his trophys.Somebody said above that it is like looking at a topo map.I would like to know were I could buy a map were it would show me the saddle were a monster is bedded.
