I have a friend who pulled a cow tag and has an old ( I believe 50's era) Remington semi-auto Woodsmaster 740 chambered in .30-06. He has a young child and wants to shoot copper bullets so the kid can enjoy the elk without any worries about digesting lead. The gun cycles Remington Cor-Lokts just fine but I am going to dial up some 180 Barnes TSX-BTs and give them a try this weekend. I'm going to start with 46 grains of IMR 4064 as that is the mide-range from Barnes load data. I know reloading for old semi-autos can be tricky...should I lean towards light or heavy loads to get started? Anybody have any suggestions with OACL or load density? i'm not expecting sub-moa from an old autoloader, 2-3" at 100 yards would be great. I'm mostly just curious if anyone has had success hand loading for this rifle. Thanks.

This is an extremely nice bow at a very good price guys. If you aren't a lefty tell someone who is.

Spent the day out there yesterday on all three courses and had a great time as always. These summer shoot are a lot of fun and everyone is really friendly.

I know they are currently setting up the course. They are planning to hold the shoot at this point, but the big question is whether FS will have open areas for camping nearby. This is kinda dated information, but as of last Friday my understanding was that camping would only be allowed on the Rez.

They are very good glasses. They have no customer support in the U.S. for their scopes and binos and I have heard horror stories about guys sending them over to Germany for repairs. I have heard these people are legit for Docter Repair, but I have never used them personally: http://www.mountainoptics.com/

Matthews Drenalin creaking noise? - need advice
Siwash replied to Viper's topic in Bows, arrows, broadheads
I had the same problem when i baught my drenalin new.I had people listen for the noise as i drew it back and we narrowed it down to the limb pocket bushing,i just lightly lubricated them and the noise went away. sorry cant remember what i used but i was on an elk hunt so supplies where limited. Thanks! I'll try that first. I had a similar limb pocket creak issue with a Darton...Rem-Oil was the ticket, but any teflon based lubricant is probably ok. -
Free Bump...I had the pleasure of camping in one of these trailers on an archery turkey hunt earlier this month. Wow these trailers are nice and very, very well designed.

I might add the Burris Fullfield II in 4-14x42 with their ballistic reticle...very good glass for the money (less than $300) and with a 100 yard zero I have shot good groups to 300 yards using its ballistic reticle and handloads with my Tikka T3 chambered in .270. In my opinion, the glass is every bit as good as the Monarch and some of the Leupolds I own, but the clicks on the Burris knobs don't feel as "positive" as they do on those scopes. Like Bill said above, I had a Monarch on a rifle and replaced it after one hunting season. I'd also suggest upgrading the factory Tikka scope rings to Warne. They run about $50 and will save you a lot of time and heartache when the bolts on your factory Tikka rings strip out

Bull Basin is a dealer for Vortex, Swaro, Leica, and Nikon. Any places in Tucson that has good optics selection to look through?? I will try Sportsmans but was just curious about any others.

Guys, What is the consensus on the ED2s after a full season in the field? Are they tried and true? I'm looking for a backup pair of 8x and need to decide between the Zen Ray 8x43 ED2 and the Kowa 8x32 BD. They are priced the same. I really regret selling the Kowa 8x32s I had...but if the Zen Rays are as great as all reports say I'd be willing to try them. Primary use would be hand glassing on stalks, field use for archery 3D shoots, and general hiking.

I tend to agree with him...I've tried 7 pin sights and man that is a lot to tune out when you have a shot on an animal, even if you practice a lot. I also tried an HHA single pin slider for target and 3D...personally I couldn't get used to it but lots of guys swear by them. I think if your bow shoots fast and you can set it at 30 or so and know how to gap high/low it would be good for most hunting situations, especially if you hunt out of a blind or stand. I have a new bow on order and along with it I'm going to try a Montana Black Gold Ascent...it has 5 pins and the bottom one is a floater that can be adjusted for long shots. I think it will be the best of both worlds with 20-60 yard pins for hunting and the option to dial it up if I want to have fun at the range with a long shot. If you want to try single pin out, PSE makes an affordable one as does HHA...the Sur Locs are nice but pricey!

Bill, I'm no expert, but I would guess it is probably worth $75-$100. I googled a few images of the bow and the limbs/cams looks to be fairly dated. If you put it on Craigslist for $75 I bet it would sell pretty fast. Hope that helps. Back to top.

Talked to a friend at the Flag AZGFD office and was told not to have it arrive before Monday morning. I mailed mine from PHX on Saturday...and just called. Some tags have been processed. Nothing for me but the lady I spoke with said they weren't done yet, so I still have fingers crossed and will call again in a few days.

Really cool story and congrats on a great tom!

You can definitely select strings colors if you use Bull Basin's local string maker, Byron. He has most of the colors available offered by BCY in 452x and his strings have a one year warranty. If you have any issues with peep rotation or stretch Bull Basin and Byron will take care of you. I've got his strings on all my bows...I'm sure they can get you Winner's Choice too.

I heard they would.

Bump...would be open to trades for an equal value bow with similar specs that has a longer ATA...
