As non typical said, get him a license. If he isn't interested in hunting big game now, he might be in the future and it would be nice to have some bonus points built up.

Mathews Switchback XT for Sale Loaded with Block Game Face
azgutpile replied to 1worthlessnut's topic in Classified Ads
+1 on it being the best bow Mathews ever made. -
I've heard of people using the "skedsled" or "Med Sleds" with good success.

Go with the 338 Edge. Its identical to the 338 Lapua, but a lot more economical. Yes the brass is very consistent on the Lapua; however, you can pick thru 5 bags of remington brass for the cost of 100 cases of Lapua. Also, the 338 Edge fits into a remington action, or clone, with very little if any modifications vs. the Lapua. 338 Edge 338 RUM 338 Lapua 338 Win

I've seen in several videos lately where archery hunters have shot a bull right before dark and not followed up on their shot/ tracking until the next morning. I understand reasons behind this, but I would be concerned that the meat would spoil. So my question is have any of you had any experience with their early archery hunts where the temps only drop down into the high 40s at night? If so, how was the meat and what were the conditions like? Thanks,

Can't you control how how fast or hot the coal/ wood burns, by adjusting the air that is allowed to circulate thru the stove?

I have A vx -iii that I might entertain selling. It's a 4.5-14x40 with the after market leupold m1 turrets. It has been used, so it does have some marks on it. If interested let me know we can work on a price.

You might no be able to tell the diffrence between bedding with pillars or without, but if you decide to bed it you might as well do pillars as well. I'm now a fan of bedding my actions after it tightened up my groups on both of the rifles. My kimber Montana went from 1" groups down to 1/2 groups.

Laminated stocks don't tend to be all that light; however, they are know to make great stocks. Take the time and bed it with pillars.

What bullet, what velocity and to a lessor extent, what are the environmental conditions? Typically there is a minimum velocity that you would like the bullet betraveling upon impact. For an example Bergers should be going 1,800 fps for proper expansion. If your just shooting paper, you will need to find the velicity that the bullet becomes unstable which can be when the bullet drops below the speed of sound.

I dont know what happened to him, but I will take him if I can
azgutpile replied to bowhuntaz1's topic in Trail Cameras
I would give him another year to see if he can fully recover. Who know, his rack may be even cooler next year due to the damage he received. -
I had a discussion with a friend of mine the other day about the sharpness of new broadhead blades. I'm of the oppinion that you are not doing yourself any good by touching up a new broadhead blade. Yes you can make it sharper to cut hair or what not, but with that steeper angle will be weeker and not hold the edge nearly as long. He is of the oppinion that the sharper it is, the better it will be...Period. Thoughts?

Need Help: Tips Deforming in Magazine
azgutpile replied to Coues Sniper's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
I have a kimber Montana 300 WSM that I have same issues with. I ended up going with the Bergers because of accuracy and the tips don't seem to deform. The other thing issue you got to keep your eyes open to the recoil pushing the bullets in deeper. Have you tried shooting the damaged tips at longer distance? I sho a few of the ones I had and didn't seem to effect the accuracy too much. -
Coosefan, The last bull I shot was double lung shot, a little high and back, but it still hit both lungs. When we started tracking the bull, he didn't bleed at all for atleast 50 yards; in addition, he bugled after the shot. We waited an hour before tracking and found him after 150 - 200 yards dead. Have you seen double lung shots, or other solid shots that didn't show the typical signs? On another hunt, I was with my father when he shot a bull quartering away (entered right at the last rib at about mid height), while it was on its knees drinking out of a trick tank. The arrow went all the way up to the fletching and the bull started bleeding right away. We waited the hour, thinking it was a great shot, and then started tracking. The first 150 yards of tracking was easy, with a blood trail that looked like it came out of a garden hose and almost completly ended when we found one big clot of blood and after that blood got really thin. Luckily it had rained the day before, so we were able to track him by his tracks alone for another 1.6 mile (GPS). He never layed down; however, you could see where he went under the trees and circled around a bit then kept walking. We started tracking right at dark and stopped for the night shortly after we found the chunk of clot. After loosing the bull, my dad hasn't even considered putingt in for elk again. So you can see that I would like to learn as much as I can from these experiences. Any insight would be appreciated.

Guys thanks for the feedback. Hopefully, I won't have a situation were I have to wait until the morning, but at least I know now that there is hope in salvaging all the meet.

could you just sight your rifle to where is hits 1/2" left @ 100 yards and then forget about it?
