for WT and javis I would probably go with the 25-06. remington 700's can not be beat. Scout'm has a sweet Rem 700 chambered in 25-06 that is extremely accurate. here is a video of a friend of our taking a WT last year at 456 yards with it. sept is a good time of year. the grass is still green, the deer are in their brown summer coats. the bucks are in velvet. IMO these things make it a little easier to find bucks.

if you are going to get out and find a big buck before the season your odds of harvesting are greatest in the Oct hunt. if you are not going to get out and scout than you might as well go with the Nov or Dec hunts when it is cooler. The Oct hunt is usually nice and warm. Scouting in Aug and Sept is even warmer. Nothing like burning your eyes on sunscreen sweat when you are trying to glass.
