Scout'm found one a few years ago when we were up in UT.

I was in S AZ last weekend but we saw a herd of 10 (9 does and fawns and 1 mature buck). he was rubbing his neck gland on the bushes. we also saw 2 separate solo bucks.

tim - thanks for sharing the pics - sure would be nice to be so close to them critters - the 2nd buck does not look to be the same as the first. the second buck looks a little better - more mass, more length - I could be wrong that is just how they look to me. that last buck is nice - good prong, good mass above the prong.

I can not remember the name of the product - hopefully someone on this site will - but there is a lotion (regular body lotion - not a bug repelent lotion) that Avon makes that has some chemical in it that keeps the bugs away. maybe someone will remember what it is and post it on here.

my parents flew out to a lake once - they were told to take frozen chicken to use as bait. they met some other fisherman who had not caught a thing - they threw out some chicken and couldn't reel them in fast enough. they started using other food - hot dogs, hamburger, etc - all the people food they used worked great.

Doug - thanks for sharing - I spent 10 summers in AK. Did you get any King fishing in on the Kenai or just Sockeye? What about halibut fishing down towards Homer? King fishing on the Kasilof is also a good time. LOTS of places to catch BIG fish on the Kenai Peninsula. The Russian river is probably my single most favorite place to fish. When the fish are in they are THICK but when they are not they are few and far between. The water is so clear that when the fishing is slow you can actually hunt the fish - kind of like spot and stalk. In all those trips to the Russian we always packed heat but never encountered a brown bear. Thanks again. Chris.

my wife will hardly get in the ocean for fear of sharks. she say's there is one swimming out there with her name on it and one of these days it is going to find her. craziest thing though is she loves it when they have shark week on tv. thats a Jack for you.

well the fishing was slow and small. went to Hawley and Sunrise. not much action and no keepers. mom was not to keen on getting up at 5:30 to head to the lake. more fun was had by the 3 year by playing in the lake afterwards. even more fun was had by the 3 year old when she discovered baby backs.

took the trip down to the ball field last night. got to witness the SUNDEVILS winning the PAC 10 championship - AGAIN!!! BACK TO BACK BABY!!! where were all the CW.com kitty scat fans last night? I know one of the biggest scat fans (the PCC Lumberjack who never went to AU) was at work last night. what about the rest of you are you going tonight? it was an ugly game for the scats. ASU won 13 - 6 and pounded out a season high 21 hits. ASU hit 3 homers. Wallace sent one over Campbell ave (Ziegler bashed one over Campbell also). AU's ace got roughed up and knocked out in the 4th inning. the au shortstop had back to back errors (the second one would have been a double play and made up for the first one). it was 5 - 0 after the 2nd inning and it got topped off with ASU stealing home in the 8th. CONGRATS AND GO SUNDEVILS!!!

another time Scout'm and I were out, well scout'n, it was the middle of the day and we had stopped for a nap. he gets up and walks down around a few cactus to the tree to relieve himself. he comes back and a couple minutes later I get up to do the same thing - guess what - I walked almost exactly in the same spot he did and there is a dang snake. I hollered at him and said didn't you just walk up this way - he said yes and I said - well there's a dang snake right in the path right now. another lucky one to not fall victim to the 357.

you should have included getting bit by a rattle snake - that is what worries me the most - last year on the deer hunt I almost stepped on one. I stopped one step short, was looking around when all of a sudden he started buzzing. I looked all around and could not find him. then I looked right down in front of me and the heart started pounding. didn't have my revolver - tried to get it with a rock but he was down in some cracks. just glad I stopped and didn't take that last step.

thanks for sharing - in addition to having a nice rack, the last buck has a cool red/brown coat.

Luv - what were the size of the fish at crescent? they had a 99% kill last winter and all the fish in there this summer are stockers. Going up to Pinetop on Wed evening for 4 days and will be taking the 3 year old fishing for the first time. Mom will be going to assist - hope she is not to grumpy when I wake her up at 5:00 to hit the road. do not know where we will be going yet. probably Hawley, Greer or maybe Big Lake.

I am looking forward to bringing my wife and daughter out next April.

and I was going to bring the video of asu vs au this last year in football and basketball (times 2) - oh well - I would vote for a get together next spring, say in like April, the weekend before the turkey hunts. that would probably be a good time to get together.

aren't the last two the same buck? looks like the left eye guard on both of them is shorter than the right one.

sorry - I know Casey will be heart broken but I will not be able to make it. I have a good friend who is in the military and I only get to see him and his family once a year. He is flying in tomorrow morning and we are getting together tomorrow afternoon. that is just the way the calendar falls. oh well - take some pics - maybe somebody can video and post first hand instruction on how to blow up a skull plate.
