  1. This is my favorite view of him. It is actually quartering towards him but is by far the best angle. You can't tell from the picture but he is done on a wall pedestal form. CB

Here is the angle my buddy really likes. He says it makes the left main beam look really big. Also, you can see all the skin rolls in his neck from turning to the left. CB

    Why a spotting scope????

Manny has a very good point. I use my scope all the time to get a better look at something that may be part of a deer but just cant tell for sure in the binos. CB

    Why a spotting scope????

Good question Allen! You can see deer a long ways away in a pair of 15s. Sometimes they are to far away to tell if they are bucks or does. Sometimes if you are far away you can tell by body size or hide color but not always. A spotter comes in handy to find out if any of the deer you have found are bucks. Also, the spotter does come in very handy in determining if a buck is a shooter or not. Quite often those bucks are a long ways away. Hiking all the way over to them to get a closer look could take a long time and use up a lot of boot leather. In my opinion, expending time and energy on a buck you may decide to pass on is a waste. Frequently, they are gone or bedded down by the time you get over there. Who knows, you might have been able to glass up a different buck or two if you had stayed put. Last year in NM I glassed up a nice buck but couldn't tell how good he really was until I checked him out in the spotter. In the 15s he looked like just a nice buck. My buddy said 'throw the scope on him and see what he looks like'. Well, he got REALLY nice in a hurry. He was a 3X4 that we estimated to be between 100 - 105. One of those monster NM canyons was between us and there was no way to get closer. Needless to say, the next day we looked for a way over there to see if we could find him again and get a closer look. When I got home I looked on the topo and that buck was 8/10ths of a mile away from us. In my 75X Nikon spotter, he looked like he was right there next to us They are expensive and heavy but well worth it in the long run. CB

    Draw Results

That's what I was talking about! And what is up with putting info on "first-come leftover process" on the big game draw results part? I won't know if I need a leftover tag until they post the results in the first place. Must be getting close.

They are doing something to the website. I have gone there a couple of times this morning and it is unusually slow to come up and the order in which items on the website come up are a little different each time. My bet is today sometime. Could be any minute. CB

What are used Docter 15x60 worth?

Lance, they can still be purchased new for $590. I sold mine last December for $475. They were in excellent condition and I included the $30 tripod adaptor. I owned them for 5 years but only used them for 4 seasons. The guy I sold them to knew he was getting a fair deal and I knew I was getting a fair deal. I would try and find out ahead of time the ability and cost of replacing those eye cups before I bought them. CB

Ditto - they can also put on a new and better recoil pad. My buddy has his 300 weatherby done and he said between the muzzle break and the recoil it was much more pleasant to shoot. CB

    Campsite Trickery

Doug, one thing we did a few years ago to pass some time was set up a chipmunk trap. We used a box, a stick, a fishing pole and a little bread. The trick we found out was to only lift the box up enough to let em in other wise it wouldn't fall quick enough before they were able to escape. We did catch one but didn't know what to do with it once we had it. I don't know who has it but I took a pic of my buddy sitting on a stump in the middle of camp holding a fishing pole with the box in the background. Passed by Flag yesterday on my way back from UT. There was a major storm that hit 89 north of Flag when we were on the road. Had to slow down to keep from hydro planing. Later - CB
