Dried and stretched or actually tanned from the tannery? And are they tubed out?
-
I have a friend that sells pelts. He gets like $100-$300 per pelt, sometimes more. His value is in the belly, spots are key! Is it tubed out? Fleshed ready to be dried? If you Flesh, stretch and dry it you could probably get north of $100-$300 for it from a fur buyer stand point.

Anyone have any info on this knife? Picked up today, looked cool. Stamped "SHAPLFIGH'S HAMMER FORGED 1843 1934" LOOKS THE "F" SHOULD HAVE BEEN "E"? Might keep it or sell it, just seeing if it has any cool history for the purpose.

Thanks, guys. I'll be adding it to my skinning knives. The woman who gave it to me was in her 70s and said it belonged to her grandmother. I really enjoy finding pieces like this. Wow Kent! I just saw your post after typing this. Appreciate the info!!! I knew there were a few CW members that collected these.

Oh wow, those are cool pocket knives. I had gone to the Buck factory in Idaho last year and now I keep an eye for those. Pretty amazing factory they have. I have some more knives from St.Louis Cultery Co somewhere.

We finally made it up last week for my boy’s elk hunt, and he made it count. His first shot was solid, clipping the heart. Earlier that day I’d told him if the elk was still on its feet after the first shot, don’t hesitate—put another one in her. After that first hit, without a word from me, he sent a second round into the lungs. As the cow turned and started to go down, he followed up with a third shot, again through the lungs. She dropped instantly, clean and quick. Hardly any meat damage, and we came away with just over 100 pounds of ground elk.

PSA Dont Book Wards Outfitter For Sandhill Crane

I think we underestimate the cranes vision. Birds are smart, they see soooo much better than we think. Any odd colors, movement, etc will throw them off, even at hundreds of yards away. -
I have one for like $30

This right here 100%. You can shoot buried in the fence line as they fly over but your chances drastically increase with the use of cranes decoys and a blind. I would not hunt with a guide without decoys. I would assume they would have 50-300 decoys. You can get it done with 5-20 decoys but again its all about the numbers IMO.
