    Goulds / Merriams & smoke

yea the goulds is banded with a NM band....... pretty cool.......to bad NM game and fish turkey biologist would never return my calls to get the history behind it... my son shot it with his bow at 34 yards...... there are 5 color phases of turkey , the 1- regular "normal " color, 2-albino - very rare for true albino, 3- melinistic ( black )4- the smoke/grey, and 5- erytristic ( red phase) ..... I've seen 4 of the smoke-grey phase.... 2 in az and 2 in NM, 1 gobbler and 3 hens..... yea jeff that jackalope has been sitting on the shop bench waiting for ya...

  5. 10 will be plenty enough , ROUGHLY 60% will be hanging weight and 60% of that will be wrapped meet depending on how fat, how much trim you take off, debone etc.... for easy math 1000 lb animal hanging will be 600, take home 360 lbs.... i'de expect from a bison the yield would be a little less then the 60%.....

    Eagle Scout

Well my son earned his Eagle Scout , so been thinking of something cool to do so this is what I came up with .bought A Henry lever 22 & bought these 3 "coins " one is the Eagle Scout the other two are the scout law & oath , routered out the stock epoxied them in , completely sanded down & refinished the stock & put it all back together . The pictures don't do it justice , this finish really popped out the wood grain , it's really pretty , I like it better then the original ... His uncles & grandparents went in & had this knife made for him . What yawl think ?

    Project: making her smile

to make them stronger ( if you think it needs it) you can take thin super glue and put on the inside part, were it is pourish.... the glue will fill in all the pores, bonding the hole thing together very well, it dries clear. you can then take your drimel and touch up as needed, it will also make it smoother against the finger while wearing it.

    Latest Project

nice work jeff, I built my grandfathers a few yeas back, and did all elk antlers for the handles, and I carved "scenes" in the front of it with a dremel tool. it turned out really nice I thought, I just had to make sure the fiberglass "case" would fit over it, and that was it...... one thing to keep in mind is the lid depth, we lined his with some kind of white satin cloth ( I cant remember exactly now ) but anyway when they closed the lid ( after putting him in ) and then went to open it for the viewing that night, the "makeup" had rubbed off a little on the lid cloth because the lid wasn't as deep as some.... so it had some smugges on it.... so was one thing I hadn't thought about,...... anyway nice job....

    hunter safety course

ive bee looking for one up in the wht mts for awhile now and right now there isn't much of anything anywhere, Call the game and fish and talk to the lady over hunter ed. I finally had my son do the online course and now we have to do a Saturday/sunday session.... ( field day) there is a couple coming up one in payson on sat the 10th and at the ben avery park, sun the 18th and I believe feb the 8th ... but other then that she didn't have much but call her and get on the waiting list and she will see what she can do, or that's what she told me... if you looking for the full blown course she could tell ya that as well... but they have been really hard for me to find one, especially anywhere close to the wht mnt... but give her a call. good luck! tommy
