They killed a buck in Region 4 when the season was closed because they trusted Go Hunt instead of reading the actual Regulations.

PM has been much better for Calicos lately but AM could be better for Rockfish. I chose PM when I went and had zero regrets. Guys we fished with on the PM were on a re ride and they said the PM was much better.

Can't beat a half day trip to get your feet wet so to speak. Those operations all cater to the beginners and kids. If the fish cooperate you guys will have a blast. Generally pretty good fishing through September at least. Have fun! I like the Daily Double. Only 35 anglers max. If you can find a local 3/4 on the Point Loma even better. It's even smaller at 18 anglers tops I think. New Seaforth out of Seaforth Landing is also a solid operation. Can't go wrong either way.

Excellent fishing for Calicos Saturday. Got a limit of keepers and probably released a couple dozen. Used a 4" swim bait and they would bite it 9/10 times. Very fun on 15#!

I like Seaforth and Point Loma Sportfishing for a half day. Calicos and sand bass have been biting which are slightly sportier, but you can generally get rockfish too, which are better eating IMO. I'll be on the PM trip on the Daily Double Saturday.

Pretty nice, fun grade there. Won't break your back but puts plenty in the freezer. Congrats!

I want to get another rod to match with a Penn Fathom 30LD2. San Diego 1-2.5 day trips. Bluefin is the main target maybe some bruiser yellows. Techniques like sinker rig, using 100-200 gram jigs like megabaits and colt snipers and maybe live sardines now and the. I still have a rod that works great as a sardine stick for 40# matched with a 4/0 so 40# bait is probably covered. Anyone ever try a spiral wrapped or acid rod? Might try something "new" and get a vertical jigging rod. Kinda new out here but they have been fishing like that in the rest of the world for a while now. Shorter more parabolic rods seem to be getting a lot more attention in the West Coast now.

Found a guy in San Diego that will wrap one for me fairly reasonably. Also decided on a blank and had him start the process. Since I wanted something for the vertical work I found the Rainshadow RCKJB700-325. It's designed for knife jigs and bottom fishing but should also work ok for yo-yo and sardine fishing maybe too, we'll see. I have a nice 40# glass baitstick already though. Has a nice parabolic action and a good backbone. I'm having it acid wrapped with the guides starting on the top near the reel and finishing on the bottom like a spinning rod. Helps to reduce the twisting during heavy tension and also helps to keep the line from getting looped on the end when jigging. Just seems to make a lot of sense with the line coming out on the bottom since thats where the force is coming from. Seems like you can get more leverage out of the rod that way. Here's a video I found that kind of helped seal the deal for me. They are fishing with that series of blanks here. They show the next power down from the one I picked.

Knight Vision Freedom 50 cal for $200 is the best deal you can get. I have a CVA Optima V2 LR and it is a sweet gun for the money as well.

I would love to try the UC RUS 80 Tilefish. That might be perfect for what I'm trying to do. Don't want to pay the shipping or buy without at least pulling on it in a store and drooling all over it though. Might follow Steve Carson from Penn's advice and go with the 7'6 Carnage 3 West Coast "Bluefin Special".

I will have to check out Phoenix Fishing next time I am over there. I contacted the guy that wrapped the Rainshadows for Charkbait about making me a lighter Rainshadow bait stick. He quoted me $475 for the finished rod. I about choked! I can get the nicest new UC factory wrapped rod for that, no thanks!

This is a GREAT deal! Very nice rod, 60# is about perfect but can push it to 80# in my experience. If I didn't already have one I would certainly buy it. I caught the fish in my profile with it. Do you happen to have the 84XH too?

I have that exact Charkbait rod already with a 40N. If it was the next size down I would be all over it. I use mine with 80# spectra, caught an 85#er with it so it may be pushing the limits, I don't know, but it works for me. Do you have a rod building contact? The only one I know is way too expensive for me.

I called Wells Fargo today. They did not show back up but Wells Fargo took the blame for that. The charges are there, for whatever reason the website is just not listing them. This is the case for a payment made as well so definitely a WF thing not AZGFD thing. Hope that eases your nerves some, I would be a wreck, LOL!

I went back and actually "did the math" and it appears as though the pending charge that dropped off is not available in my available credit. Neither is the pending charge that is still there, so by the numbers it looks like a $45 hit is now a charge and there is a $45 pending charge still. Weird that it is not on the list of charges on my account. Probably will show up Monday.

A pending charge from Wednesday disappeared here too. Charge from last night still there. Running balance on card is as if there is a 45 charge not shown, but not sure if that's from the pending charge that remains. Wells Fargo if that makes a diff. This has never happened to me before and I have used that same card reliably through many, many draws. By that I mean I have never seen a pending charge and the charge not actually show up in the list of actual charges a few days later.

We got a 2nd hit this evening too. Pretty suprised but I will take it. I probably got my first muzzy tag.
