Personally, I've never heard of a coues deer in Unit 10. Farthest north and west I've heard of is in Sycamore Canyon between 6B and 8, but they are expanding their range. There are javelina there though for sure, so who knows, maybe the coues are not far behind. Most certainly is mule deer country though. Good Luck!

Hoping Big Browns will see this! -
Dude, you're killing me! I want one bad, but no funds to do it right now. I do have a boat I would trade you if interested. It's a 1984? 16 ft Sea Nymph with a 28 HP Johnson Special. I am the second owner. The boat has a working livewell and trolling motor, platforms in front and back. Side console steering. Needs a little work (batteries and a tune up) but an excellent boat!

Praying for you buddy!

I personally haven't tried them but they are the latest and greatest with a lot of the guys on Bowsite. They also have some issues with the steel, but in this case too soft from reports I've heard. Their 3 blade broadhead is the same basic design as the Montec, Snuffer SS, Hellrazor, etc except that this version is machined out of a piece of steel, which is attractive from a build criteria. Very durable head but tough to keep them sharp from what I have read but I have no direct experience. One thing I will add is no other company beside Magnus will give you a free replacement warranty, no questions asked. VPA will try to pretend they have a replacement warranty but their's is not on the same level as Magnus. They don't care what you did with the head, if it no longer works for you they will replace it, period. There is no other company in the archery industry with that kind of service. Magnus will get my business until something way better comes along.

Great price for an awesome scope. Good luck with the sale!

Wow, that looks great Jim! Lions and cats in general seem to be the critters that separate the "men from the boys" when it comes to taxidermists.

Sorry to hear about the back troubles. Hope the boy makes good on the old man's tag. Good luck with your surgery. I pray that you make a quick and complete recovery. Nick

I believe the big gripe about the Montec is not the design of the blade but the metal itself. This is why they came up with an improved, more expensive version using a carbon steel. The three blade cut on contact design is one of the best out there if you can get the blades sharp. Keep in mind with the huge blade angle compared to other blades, the edge will not feel as sharp, but you can indeed make them pop hair if you spend enough time on the stone. I use the Snuffer SS which is basically the same design, just welded instead of cast and using stainless steel. The NAP Hellrazor also uses a better steel, but the same basic design of the Montec. If you know how to get the blades to their maximum sharpness I don't think you can do a lot better than these. I will keep my thoughts to mechanicals to myself, but I will wholeheartedly recommend a fixed blade head like the Montec, especially when they are shaving sharp and put in the boiler room!

Zuki, I had a 13A pronghorn tag in 2010. About the only deer I saw were way on the south end of the unit. Don't remember the names of the roads but there are two main ones that come to an intersection way down south. I took this photo about 100 yards from that main intersection. Start on the south end and go from there. Good Luck, Nick

40B Junior Pheasant Hunt

Adam, Congrats on the draw luck. I've never had that tag. I always seem to forget to put in although I have plenty of times and never got lucky. Anyhow... I'm Yuma native. I see a few birds every year on my way to work. I would be happy to take a morning to drive around and show you some areas. I would recommend coming over for the dove hunt so you can hunt doves and scout pheasants. I am not aware of anyone that guides for this hunt. Nick -
The short answer is "NO". There is no tag surrender option in AZ. You may still be able to get the leftover and only use one tag, since the bag limit is one. I can remember a day when there was a 2 deer bag limit as long as one was killed with a left over tag. That was a LONG time ago, LOL!

Congrats on your drawing success! You have your work cut out for you on two tough hunts.

My wife and I have been dying to catch a show at the Red Rocks. When we heard in the spring that OCMS was playing there we wanted to go bad, but we already had a trip scheduled to the midwest for the Independence Day holiday which was only a week or two before the Red Rocks show. We were treated to an addition to the tour at the Opry while we were nearby, so we grabbed tix to that only a couple of weeks before the show. That was a good substitute for missing out on the Red Rocks show, but we WILL go there one day! DesertBull, hit me up if you're going again, I'll buy you that cold one!

Old Crow Medicine Show is coming to Mesa Arts Center, Ikeda Theater on September 14th. Tickets are on Pre-Sale today starting at 10:00 AM. Should be able to get pre-sale password from the OCMS Facebook page or from Mesa Arts Center if you have gotten tix from them before. PM if you can't get the code and I'll share. I still owe Desertbull a cold one for letting us know last time!

Adicted, they play string band music. Fiddle, banjo, stand up bass, dobro, guitjo, mandolin, and of course guitar. Their style is a mix of folk, old time, bluegrass, ragtime etc but played with the energy of punk rock, fast and hard. Their songs can be a bit edgy, with current events and social issues. Their biggest hit is Wagon Wheel, which is the song Darius Rucker (Hootie) hit it big with on country radio last year. I expect a bunch of songs from the new album. Heard a few when I saw them perform at the Opry a few weeks ago. Good stuff. Met the band and got the new album signed.

I find nothing wrong with letting a person decide on their own if they want to get baptized or worship at a particular church, but it is a parent's and sometimes a grandparent's responsibility to give children all the tools they need to succeed in life. A relationship with the Lord certainly couldn't hurt, but I am totally opposed with forcing one's religion on another.

Just a bit of info for comparison. About ten years ago you could find Randy Ulmer's face plastered all over Cabela's in his Microtex clothing. I had the chance to talk to him at an ABA banquet and asked him about the fabric. He made me a believer. My original pair I have is a bit pilled but otherwise, as good as the day I bought them. No shrinkage, no fading, no tears. That is over 8 years, maybe even 10 years of hard use. I have had my Attack pants for about two years tops and the DWR is worn out and they have pulls and runs all over them from a couple trips up the hill with Tom on his sheep hunt. Microtex is way tougher for our country here in the desert and just as quiet. If they would work on their fit, made them in the USA, and kept a reasonable price they would be the perfect hunting pants.

Attack pants and catclaw acacia don't mix! You are better off in a set of Carhartts or military bdu pants in catclaw than Attack pants. Maybe they won't tear but who wants all the pulls and runs in their $120 Kuiu pants. They designed their stuff to be lightweight for backpacking in the mountains, but they are not durable in the desert cactus. Do yourself a favor and find a more durable set of pants for the desert. Don't get me wrong, I have a pair of Attack pants and love them for other stuff, but they are not at all durable compared to other choices.

Does the Plinkerton come with or is a magnum cylinder available?

I recall the good ol days of Roger's Lake before Georgia Frontiere built her mansion in prime elk country. I remember watching and hearing hundreds of elk in there in the late 80's. That a huge part of making me the "elkoholic" I am now. Yes I am ELKRAZY!

This post hits close to home. 2 years ago my best friend's sister took her own life. She was the closest thing to a sister I ever had growing up. I am terribly sorry for your loss and I pray that one day you will see your brother in Heaven. May God Bless You and touch you and your loved ones with his Holy Spirit, providing you with comfort and strength. Amen.
