Cool footage! Thanks for sharing. Hope your luck holds during your hunt!

I got your PM 131 and replied with Tom's contact info. Thanks for any help you can lend!

That's awesome that you were able to solve your issue. I was going to recommend an armguard as well, however since installing a string stopper on my bow, any arm slap issue I was having is now gone. May want to take a look at that in the future if you don't already have one on your bow. That also quieted my bow some.

Tom is in the best physical condition any 60 something year old guy could ask for. That is not the issue. The issue is the sheep we have been finding are easily 1500-2000 feet vertical climb from the desert floor where we are glassing. You don't just walk up there and shoot one. It takes half a day to get up there and half a day to get down. That doesn't leave much room for error. By the time you get up there, if the sheep move to an area you can't see, it pretty much game over. These are the wildest of creatures living in some of the harshest environment on the planet. We need lots of eyes to examine as many nooks and cranies to find a decent ram in an area that a stalk is possible. Tom is essentially on his own now. There is nobody else in camp with him. Myself and a few other guys have been trying to help as much as possible on the weekend, but the hunt is near it's conclusion. Time to pull out all the stops. It would be a shame if the hunt ended without Tom killing a ram, but it certainly will not be from a lack of physical conditioning, effort, or determination on Tom's part.

If there was no hide on the skull whatsoever, you are probably good to go, but I would call Game and Fish to be certain. If there is any flesh remaining, they may want to come out and investigate. If they determine that the animal died of natural causes, they will let you have it. If anything is suspect, they will probably keep it.

Nice Job! Thanks for sharing. Those are some awesome photos you captured!

All of these mounts are incredible but the full body mount with the prickly pear pads in front on the habitat with the slightly open mouth is absolutely fantastic! If I was doing a javelina mount, I would like something similar to that. I also like the one laying on the floor with no habitat...that thing looks alive! I'd like to have one like that too, just to see the look on my wife's face when she came in the room. LOL! Fantastic work Jim!

My apologies, Unit 40B-W North Gilas. This range is SE of Yuma. You go through the Gila Mountains on your way into Yuma on I-8 heading West towards San Diego. You can access the East side of the range by heading South on 25E just West of Wellton, AZ. The West side of the range is accessible by going through the pass mentioned above and heading south on 15E. I can give better directions to anyone interested. Nick

One of those is oddly familiar? Great Work Jim!

ATTENTION SHEEP HUNTERS, GLASSERS, ETC! Tom (Lv2hnt) is having a tough time on his hunt in the Gilas. We've seen a number of good rams on this hunt, but we haven't been able to get to them to kill one. We need help finding a ram in a shootable position. Time is running out for Tom and his "help" has gone home for the most part. We need your help! If anyone ever wanted to get in on a sheep hunt, here is your chance! Contact me here by PM and I can put you in touch with Tom or let you know where to go. I am positive Tom would be extremely delighted and grateful for any assistance he can get this last week or so. God Bless, Nick

Drew 13A with 8 points in 2010. Drew Unit 1 Archery in 2012 with 3 points. Gotta play to win!

Hey TJ, try HabiMap on the G&F site. That has the unit boundaries as a layer. Good Luck!

Congratulations on breaking your 8 year curse! Nice job doing it with the recurve too! Still waiting to get my first javi after hunting them for decades with a bow. Yes I suck at hunting javelina!

Beauty Don! Congratulations to your crew and the hunter!

I got drawn in 2010 with 8 bonus points. If it can happen to me, it can happen to anybody! First off you have to apply for the draw to get drawn, so don't miss it no matter what! Your best bet will be to apply for units that don't have many tags come out of the 20% set aside. Unit 9/10 has one of the best odds. The 46's usually have better odds than most but be prepared to take stock in or hike a LONG ways to hunt. Some others as well but some of these units can be nasty! Just ask Tom Wagner, who is on day 20 of his hunt in the Gilas. Good Luck!

There are definitely some c+'s and some b-'s in there, but I wholeheartedly agree with your classification.

Incredible mass on that ram. Congratulations on your hunt of a lifetime!

It was a pleasure meeting you at Game and Fish the other day. Thanks for sharing your photos and story. Congratulations!

Congratulations to your grandpa! That is fantastic!

What an awesome hunt! Great job on a fantastic ram everybody! Congratulations on harvesting such an incredible animal with your bow. I can only imagine how excited you must be! -
Best of luck to you Brian! We're all pulling for you man!

Thanks for all the responses. Although I thought heavily about trying something different this year, I'm going back to the scene of previous attempts for another round with the javelina in 37B. I've found herds in a few different places in that unit and also killed a deer there so I figured that's the one. For those of you that don't know me, the javelina is my nemesis. I've shot at them a bunch and even hit a few, but have not recovered one and put my tag on it yet. I've killed elk and deer with my bow and other stuff with my rifle but the stinky, pesky javelina is my biggest challenge. Ridiculous huh? At this point I just laugh at how crappy I am at finding and hunting those things, but they are one of my favorite critters in Arizona. I'll get one some day and when I do, I will be one happy camper!

What a pain in the rear! Sorry to hear you had to drive so far Bruce. Hope things are going well otherwise. Nick
