When I first started hunting, I could buy a leftover tag for deer in any of the 36 units every year. The first deer tag I ever got, I bought at the AZGFD office the day before the hunt started in 36a. I would put in for bonus points every year. I guess I should say I would put in for Kaibab every year and get a bonus point. Then I would pick up a leftover WT tag every year down south. Now there are so many people hunting them that there are no leftover tags most of the time. There was even a time you could kill a mule deer up north AND get a WT tag down south. No one hunted them. Not like now anyway. This was way before my time, but I have heard from many people that it was true. Times change. Populations increase, land and animals decrease. I pray that my boys will have the opportunity to hunt in the future.

Wait..... So the people that were first in line, will get drawn first???? Mind blowing. And then there is a chance that some other people will just get lucky and get a chance to hunt. Even more mind blowing. Seems pretty fair to me.

You do have a better chance. If AZ worked the way you are suggesting, you'd probably never get to hunt in your life time. Do you realize how many people have applied for tags before you ever did? Our state and game animals can't support the system you are wanting. The current way its done, gives you a far better chance of getting a tag. Apply for tags and be happy when you draw them. Hunting in this state has changed a lot in the 20 years I've been applying for big game. Its only going to get worse. More people wanting more hunting and the game can't keep up.

Also you have to realize you're in a state with low numbers of game compared to some. If you want to hunt every year, move to a state that has more game. We can't all win. That is just life.

What would be fair to you? The more you pay the higher chance you have to draw? Richest man wins? Or the game and fish does all the work to do the draw and manage wildlife with manpower, equipment and overhead, and you don't have to pay a dime unless you get drawn?

I am no expert on the system so take this for what its worth..... There will be tags left over for those units (October tags) after the first bonus point pass. At least most years there aren't enough people that put those hunts as there first choice, to take all the tags. So I should be able to draw it in the second pass with 6 points. However, tag numbers are dwindling and there are more people applying in Arizona now. I could have it totally wrong, if I do that's okay. I can tell you this, I wont start a dang petition saying its unfair, or that I should get a trophy even though my team lost.

I only said that because one year I was charged 4-5 days after they started and it was my last choice, that I got drawn for. Probably just a coincidence. I have 6 points for deer though. If I cant draw an October tag in 23 or 22 with that, something is wrong. My first and second choice, were late hunts in those units.

Is this the HD spotter or the older version?

I’m ready to sell all my hunting stuff. I’ll probably get charged tomorrow for my 3rd or 4th choice. Probably a huge waste of 6 points but I just want to hunt this year.

This car is no different, its a POS also. Monday mornings I have to start it twice, guaranteed. First time you turn the key it will not stay running. Its sad because its a 2013 with 6,500 miles on it. It was my wife's grandmother car. Once she passed away the in-laws just let it sit in their garage until now. Kind of happy they wouldn't let me buy it from them though. These dang things are selling for 10k with 50k miles on them. Stupid times.

I've reached an all time low. I'm now driving a Fiat 500. You want to talk about scary, try driving one of these things! Everything on the road is bigger than it! One accident and that will probably be the end of me! Looks like its going to save me about $300+ a month though. Now I just need some FJB stickers for the back window.
