  1. Terrific story and great bull, one to be proud of for sure. 2009 for archery hunters was not the best, which makes any bull or cow a true victory. Congrats. -Ryan
  2. Thanks Tracy, I sure wish you didn't have to go back to work that first week. We all had a great time, another one for the memory bank. Next year is your year for a tag. - Ryan
  3. I do have photos of my brothers bull another big 6x6, but am waiting for him to post them. I just got word that our sgt. just filled his tag on a nice 5x6 this morning. If I can get my hands on his pics I'll post those as well. -Ryan

    Archery elk hunters

I am headed up this weekend and am hoping to hear some talking. I was luckly enough to draw a tag last year and from my personal experience, the elk were talking, you just had to be in the right place when it was happening. I also heard after I taged out, the last couple days of the hunt were the best when it came to talking activity. As for this year, I hope and pray that we have a great hunt filled with all kinds of rutting activity. -Ryan

    Introducing Myself

Welcome aboard Sean. Look forward to your future pics and stories. -Ryan
  11. I am on the edge of my chair here. I remember last years bull was around 420" and I ended up shooting a 300" on my hunt. This means if my calculation are correct, if Mullin's bull is over 420", then I am for sure tagging a 340" this year. Good luck to all who have elk tags this year, I was lucky enought to get a another tag, two years in a row. -Ryan

    My son

Haven't met you or your family but my family is praying for you. Its hard to accept that God has a plan and that it was Bret's time, but just know he will do great things for many people where he is now. Heaven is a great place and he just made it that much more. Like someone else already posted, let no day pass without telling your loved one's "I Love You". Enjoy the times as they go by fast. -Ryan

    2009 Bull Elk

I can't hardly wait for my elk hunt to finally start, so I figured I would get the ball rolling with getting everyones input on what their goals are. My questions are simple, *Are you going to hold out for a bigger bull (Final Score) than the one you killed in the past, or shoot whatever presents it self? *If you are going to hold out for a bigger bull (Final Score), how big and for how long? *If you are not worried about beating your previous bull, what are you looking to accomplish? For me, I am looking to kill a higher scoring bull than 300, which is my personal best. I am going to hold out for that bull, for the first week of the hunt. On the second week is when I'll start judging each bull as they come it, depending on what they look like. -Ryan

    Another "What would you do"

I agree with posting a sign but with some hunter ethics to go with it. If your going to put up a sign, it must be detailed as to where you are, and you must take it down after each sitting. It can't just read "Hunter in area", it should be "Hunter at water tank, 1/2 mile up road" or something. The hunter hanging the sign also must understand that if someone else beats he or she to that spot the next day, then they must respect that aswell. They also must understand that if they are hunting an area that is infected with roads and or hunters then the chances of their spot being quite is slim. I think the sign is a good idea aslong as it is used the right way. -Ryan
