Well I finally got a chance to sit down and tell you guys how our hunt went this past weekend. We had a total of 11 tags in camp and 7 of them, including me, tagged deer. I will say now, I don't have all the pic's of all 7 bucks but will try and get them and re-post when I do. *Opening day we saw alot of deer, all were doe's and fawns. * The second day we went to my "Old Faithfull" honey hole which proved to be a good decision. Late in the day after hunting all day, Regan, my younger brother, told me he spotted a good buck in the bottom of the long draw which we were about to walk into. We moved into position over a outcrop of rocks, allowing for Regan to make a shot at 433 yards. Regan used my rifle and dialed the scope "MOA" into 433 and made good shot, dropping the buck where he stood. Here is his buck. * Sunday we chose to hunt just a half day, so we could listen to the Card's football game. Knowing how bad the game was, I know now I should have just made the day an all day hunt. Oh well, Sunday only turned up does once again. * Monday we went back to my honey hole, and ended up spotting 3 bucks at first light. We made a stalk down into the canyon and just as we got close to the bucks, they busted out of a tree thicket and ran down the ridge, stopped and bedded down. For the life of me, I couldn't figure out why the bucks spooked, but didn't worry about it and chose to continue with my stock. I moved towards the bucks and found myself staring down my scope at the big buck at 435 yards, as he laided in his bed. I dialed the MOA scope to 435 and settled in for a shot. After a few minutes of gathering my breath and thoughts, I squeezed the trigger...... My brother who was spotting for me, yelled "Missed high, reload" "He is up and to the left of your first shot". I reloaded and luckly enough found the big buck in my scope at 18 power, I took a quick breath and touched off another round, hearing my brother yell "You hit him hard, hes going down". This is my buck were he fell. * On Monday afternoon, I took my dad out to a spot that I know holds alot of deer, mostly being younger bucks. With my dad just recently having back surgery and not wanting to push it, we opted to shoot the first buck we found. After glassing the hill side, I spotted two spikes bedded under a tree. I told my dad that I've got bucks bedded and without hesitation we were making our move to close the distance. We were able to close the gap to 210 yards. My dad made his first shot while the buck was bedded and hit low. I yelled "Reload, you hit low". The buck jumped and stood there, allowing my dad to make a follow up shot, which dropped him. This is his tasty whitetail. * This is the sun set on Monday night, I thought it looked really cool so I snapped a few pic's. -Ryan

That sounds like my white Dodge. I saw a dark Chev pickup with a sticker on the rear window, was that you? Should have flagged me down and said hi, oh well next time. Hope your outing was a good one. -Ryan

Heck yeah, Thats one muddy bull. Congrats on a great elk. If you were to ask me what my favorite two animals were to hunt, it would be Bull Elk and Coues Deer...... -Ryan

WOW coach, you summed up alot of what I base my glassing on. I too don't claim to be an expert glasser, and must admit what your wrote is some great advise for all the readers. If I could add anything onto your post would be for the hunter or huntress to have confidence. Trusting in what your doing will always produce the game your looking for. -Ryan

Any buck is a good buck. Don't let the size of the horns measure your hunt. Congrats on filling your tag. -Ryan
