    Double Drop Beam Mexico Coues

What a hunt! I'm glad everyone had a great time, and we got a couple of studs in the dirt. Here is a picture of John's 117" buck from the week before, this thing was all mass, with multiple measurements from 5 1/2" to 6 3/8" and another one you might enjoy Thanks to flagcoueskiller (joe) for all your help on the first week, and to The Claw for gettin' it done, big time. We battled javelina, lions, federales, thieves, wind, rain, washouts, dead batteries, u-joints, running deer, hiding deer, the moon, and 90 degree temps to FINALLY get it done, after only spending 44 days in mexico this year! I wanna go back to bed, wait!!! Is it still archery deer season????? Matt Woodward Borderland Adventures

    The Claw

Having shot a couple of hundred rounds off of the claw, I will respectfully disagree with most of the above posts. With the PROPER tripod and head, there isn't a more effective or versitile shooting system out there. The ability to track animals in scope is one of the main benifits. recoil reduction is another. Locking on is the best. I have shooting sticks, big ones, little ones, monopods, bi-pods. tripod rests, you name it. I have shot off of many packs, logs, trees and even built a rock pyramid 2' high as a rest once. Clicking your rifle into a HIGH quality tripod and locking on to an animal is the steadiest shooting I have done. The system (and shot) is only as good as it's foundation, that's why I won't let anyone shoot off of St#%@y Point shooting sticks It works for me, because I carry a large tripod on a daily basis, wouldn't leave home without it. If you carry a compact tripod, with a cheap head, this system WILL NOT work for you. It is designed for for hunters who take long(ish) shots at stationary game, and demand one shot kills. Ever had to wait on a bedded coues deer for 6 hours? And not be ready when he stands up? And then disapears in one step? As for the price, I know a few of the guys on here that carry $7-$10K of gear in their pack on a daily basis, my self included. 3 set's of high end optics, RF, GPS, PLB, etc.....Heck my tripod head cost double the claw. Please do not tell my wife. a dozen high quality arrows costs as much, and most of mine end up meeting a rock on the farside of a jackrabbit anyway Bottom line, shoot how you shoot best, and accept nothing less. the claw

These things are awesome! I have shot hundreds of rounds out of mine. It is poison for long range shooting. My wife also shot her first coues deer with it last year. 240 yards straight up hill . she tracked the deer in the scope (with a steady rest) for over 100 yards until he stopped on top of the next ridge.....Bang....done deal. She doesn't want to shoot without one. Eliminates alot of recoil from the big guns, also. If you want to be rock solid on a small target at long range...... get The Claw. Switches out with the 15's in a second and it rides in the hip pouch on my eberlestock when it's not on the gun. Matt

    34A question

You're right, the 143 is hammered. I can glass it from my house. There will be a camp at every pullout along it's entire length during all three early hunts. Still a good option for camping though, as you can access alot of country from there. Both sides of the Salero will be packed. Usually 4-6 camps from salero to patagonia and three times that from salero to the bull springs turn. There are about 6 major roads in the unit that should equal about 100 hunters per road. Very few people will be more than a mile from the road. Matt

    Outdoorsmans Tripod Adapter

The warraty remains the same. I have sent mine back to swaro for repairs and all is good. The adapter is the absolute best out there, 10X better than swaro's. my 10's and 15's are set both set up that way. Outdoorsmans is the best in the biz

    Eberlestock J104

Thanks guys It was after hours, I was going to call Eberlestock in the morning. The web page is burned into my mind I have it mounted as a chest pack, and it is not secure enough. It will bounce too much on the trail. Just doesn't seem quite right.
