The Ocotillos are heavy right now, most of the browse looks good. The does are getting ready to POP!

Saw a wicked big buck on the refuge last year. His left side went straight out to the side, right side normal. Did I mention he was big? I think G&F is still breeding antelope near Ajo, not sure what they are doing with them, though. Would love to see a hunt out there some day.

Alignment is not really an issue. These things are monsters, they typically do not leave the truck. Fixed 20x eyepieces only, you would never get the adjustable eyepieces "just right" the difference in 30x and 30.1x would make you cross eyed in 2 minutes flat. Spotting scopes are designed to be looked through with one eye only, and they are great for that purpose. They are not binoculars, no matter how many spotters you have. Swaro should just make a pair of 20x binos, they would be awesome, I'm sure. I have spent hours behind them and was never comfortable, I always went back to the 15's. I also use VERY LARGE, HEAVY tripods. Most tripods are just not big enough. The big eyes do not balance on the head well, which leads to difficult panning/tilting and lots of shakes. I even prefer Doctors over the big eyes, but the Kowa's beat them all.

Opening day of bear season? sorry, can't make it.

I have had 2 close friends purchase them. Both hated the big eyes and sold them within about 6 months. Think hard. Look at the Kowa's

For some reason, they have forgot to send me a 4th notice. I always pay on the 4th one

Camera Reviews
soazarcher replied to Red Rabbit's topic in Photography of Coues Deer and Other Wildlife
Just got my new Canon Powershot SX200 IS in the mail yesterday. This thing is awesome. It is replacing my Rebel xti, easier in the pack. 12.1 megapixels, 12X zoom, HD video, really happy with it. Better zoom and image quality than my Rebel with a 300mm lense. Even at 48X digital zoom, the IS camera takes awesome pictures. Matt -
Did you take a couple of stray bullets last year?
-
I've seen 3 bears this month, all above 6000ft. But, some of the pears are turning color. Any time now.

+1 Lots of wives tales out there. Check it out on Wikepedia. I always thought they burrowed into your skin. I spent a week in Kansas last month, and learned ALL I ever wanted to know about them. Still bleeding from 20+ spots. Get some anti-itch ointment.

Thanks Catclaw, I was reading and editing when you posted, My edited post is above. I'm a good example of the the last report, I mailed mine on the 7th this year, and left for mexico for three weeks. It arrived on the 11th, and I had to take the test again.

I've deleted what i previously posted. Guides, have you reviewed the packet you probably just got in the mail? THIS IS INSANE! $500, seriously???, 24 months ago it was $100, that's crazy! Are there too many guides around? This, and the BLM, forest circus fee increases, could shut some guys down. BLM fees for an average guided hunt on BLM land could approach $600!!!! $3000 for nos res Sheep, $3200 for Elk!!! 5% of our tags are now "premium" class A hunts? Who says premium? Just draw odds? I guess our draw odds will go up, when we loose 1/2 the hunters in the state, in a few years. Recruitment and retention might shut us down.

Sierra Club wants lion tag to auction
soazarcher replied to billrquimby's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
Seems like a ploy to end lion hunting, IMO. Chase a cat, film it panting in a tree with a bunch of yappy hounds under it, and plaster the poor little kitty on the internet. This is how these people work. SC is not a friend to hunters, bad news. Do you think they could find a houndsman to run with them? -
Lets see what the future looks like!

Hard hiking, 4 year old, Trent. -
Quoting myself above You're right, that is not a map, it is a picture of Arizona. Seems like the guys who are pissed, are the guys who have seen this before. Remember what Hirsch did to Black River? The next year they frickin graded the road and put in picnic tables!!!! Learn from the experience, most of us have done the same, myself included ( NOT with WR!) and regret it to this day. Low pressure hunting is priceless in Az, keeping just one hunter out of your "area" can mean all the difference. Just let 'em find their own spots. Lots of country out there I've seen lifelong hunting buddies turn into mortal enemies over deer or "secret" spot, I can think of 6 off the top of my head (4 cw members already ) Nate, Great deer, always will be, regardless. Stick around, we'll still be talkin about this buck in 10 yrs Matt Woodward

I almost spit when I saw there was a MAP

+1 This post would be interesting if someone would spit out a name.... Edit: wait, I think I just guessed, I would be PISSED! Can you say "black ball"?

Problems with Garmin Rhinos??? 520/ 530
soazarcher replied to lionhunter's topic in Other Hunting Gear
They just replaced my FOURTH Rino! I'm done with 'em. There has to be something better out there. All had the same problem as yours 520's and 530's have lasted 6-8 months. Thank god for Cabelas return policy and Garmins one year warranty ( they replaced the last on at 18 months ) I'm going back to a radio and a better GPS. -
Looks like a good spot. A couple of things you could do to improve your pics, It looks like the lick is on the other side of a trail, I can visualize deer turning away from the camera to hit the lick=butt shots I try to face a camera facing up or down the trail, you will get more "head on" shots and deer stay in the frame longer It's also nice to get 'em up high in a tree facing down, helps with glare, theives and bears
