  1. My son and I are both Non-Resident. We are applying for the AZ elk draw together. He has a Lifetime License. I don't have one. ( I know, I effed up). Regs say the 10% Non-Resident cap won't apply to him. So what happens with me? Will I fall under the 10% NR cap, even though we are on the same app? I'm not too worried about it, just more curious than anything. I thought I also remembered seeing G&F screwed up and forgot to put some Non-Res lifetime license holders in the non 10% cap draw or I guess you could call it the Resident pool?
  2. My son has a job based in Murfreesboro and travels a lot. He lives with us until their house in Wickenburg sells. When we move we are trying to stay at least an hour away from Memphis. We've driven thru McKenzie, Huntingdon, Dover, Paris, Waverly, etc. Wife has to have great internet wherever we move to. Did you go to UT- Martin or Austin Peay? Or? I also like Murray KY, it's a college town that has most things.
  3. Ok, another question.....What happens when a Non-Resident applies with a Resident? Does the Non-Resident get pulled into the Resident pool or does the Resident gets pulled into the Non-Res pool? Or same scenario as answers to my original post?? I'm guessing I'll just apply on my own.........
  4. Yes, a lake to fish would be nice. I've been dove hunting here 3 times and fired 2 shots. Really miss the AZ dove and quail hunting. We shoot some sporting clays and 5-stand every now and then and have done a couple of pheasant tower shoots and have hunted planted birds. Sportsman license here gets you 3 does and a buck, turkey, varmints and fishing. I've shot one 8-point buck so far.
  5. I'm a few miles south of Frankfort between Louisville and Lexington. We are looking around Clarksville area and SW KY. We want to get closer to both our daughters and our new Granddaughter. One is in Clarksville and the other is in Arkansas near Jonesboro. Trying to take a couple hours off the 6 1/2 hour drive there. Where were you at when you lived here?
  6. I like it. Much slower paced than AZ. Hunting is hard to do. You have to know someone or be in the in crowd. Weather can be rough but March to Nov is pretty nice. Hoping to move to TN or Western Ky in the next 2 years. Hopefully get something with acreage I can hunt. I'm also right in the middle of Bourbon country and barely drink. Haha!

    House Rock Wildlife Area Tag

I was in a situation where I had 36 points. I knew we were moving out of State and wanted a bison. I also wanted the whole family to participate. Raymond Ranch was perfect for that. I also had the pressure of a Commissioner and two higher-level G$F Supervisors as spectators for my hunt. I had to shoot a steel target at 100 yds and then onto the hunt. Shot a nice cow at 100 yds. in the magic triangle. Heart shot to be exact!

    White Wing Doves

Have the white wings always been legal in the late season? It's been awhile for me and we never saw any in the late season anyway.

Awesome! Great buck and cute grandbaby! Can't wait to get my granddaughter out in the field in the future.
  17. My 1st deer at age 13 in 24A shot it running at 30 yds with my brand new .270 Rem. 760. My 1st javelina at age 12 in 24A. Dad took a nap and I watched the hill across from us. Saw a javelina go from one bush to another. Woke him up to tell him and he didn't believe me. I convinced him to let me walk over there. 20 minutes later I shot my javelina and he missed his. LukeDukes 1st javelina when he was 11 was memorable. We ate at Judys Cookhouse in Miami and he had the shits before we left. We finally got to our spot in 23 and found a herd . He shot a javelina and it took 2 hours to find it. It was right where I told him to look and the only place I hadn't looked! Don't even get me going about all the elk hunts we've been on and still hope to go on.

    26 points

I drew in '84, '92, and '06. Back up to 21 points now, and hopefully will get 1 more tag. Although, I'd rather have a sheep tag than 1 more antelope tag.
