Bub got it done Friday morning with an 80 yard shot with the 270WSM. I had buck fever waiting for Bub to get the shot. She was calm! Bri got it done Monday afternoon with a 160 yard shot with the 270 WSM. Bub n Bri got on the blood trail and followed it about 100 yards while I stayed behind them watching them figure it out. It was so fun to watch them follow it and then find the deer.

Opening day was either the 21st or 28th that year. I always remember some bad world events, man made or natural, happened when I was out hunting. Prayers for those Marines and their families.

I got in more trouble with mine. I had just got my BB gun back from being grounded for 3 months from it when the neighbor accused me of shooting birds. I had shot like 5 shots at a target in the backyard and the guy starts yelling. I thought my Dad was going to get in a fist fight with the guy......What a great tradition for your grandson to have Grandpa show him!

After dressing and skinning 2 deer this season my new favorite is a Browning model 514 gut hook/skinner. Surprisingly it held an edge way longer than my Buck skinner. I bought it at Dick's sporting goods of all places. LukeDuke got me a Havalon but I keep forgetting to use it. I bought a couple more Browning knives from the Outlet store but have not used them yet.

Watching my girls shoot their deer this past week.....Deer 1 shot at 80-90 yards quartering away, fell at the shot then got up and ran 20 yards and died. Deer 2 shot at 160 yards broadside, was classic jump and buck the back legs and ran 100 yards and died. Shot was in front of shoulder and exited out opposite shoulder.
