We are going to 23 next Friday morning, you are welcome to camp with us or I can get you into some areas to try. It is a big unit and some spots do get crowded.

I'm not real familiar with this area but look for areas where 3 or more drainages come together. Look for high hills with saddles and in your area look for cat claw on higher hills. And also listen for grunting and noises they make. Good luck to you!

I think dove season by Federal law can only be 60 days. That's why 1st season is 15 days and 2nd season is 45 days. Oh, and awesome shot on that dove!!!!!!

The .270 WSM in general is an awesome cartridge. I bought mine for longer range elk. I've shot elk at 475, 410, and 420 yards and my girl shot hers last year at 350 yds. 140 gr. Accubonds work well for me. Federal Premium is good stuff. I don't know about the Savage but I'm sure someone will chime in.

I'm sorry but BAR's and Leupolds were made for each other. I've got 3 of them. Get a nice VXII or VXIII and don't look back. My wife and 2 girls (15 and 10) have taken antelope, elk and deer with my BAR in 270WSM. Congrats to your wife on her buck.
