Thanks for the advice guys. The bow hasn't been shot a whole lot. Not sure how many arrows shot is considered a lot. It still puts arrows where I want. I'm trying to shoot about 100 arrows a week before the 1st hunt on Sept.1. If something seems funky I'll get it changed before the Nov. hunt.

My 1st hunt was a pig hunt near Kearney in 24A when I was 12. We were sitting on a ridge and I thought I saw a pig go from 1 bush to another. I told my Dad and he didn't believe me. ( After all it was our 1st hunt.) He decided to take a nap and I just sat there looking at that bush on the ridge across from us. Finally my Dad woke up and said I could start walking over to the bush with the pig in it. Just as I crossed the wash and started up the other side pigs started running everywhere. I shot twice at 1 pig and missed. My dad saw one and shot and missed. I finally connected on one running up another ridge. Shot at him three times and hit him twice with an old borrowed Winchester 94 with iron sights. I took my 1st deer the next year on the other side of the Dripping Springs, a 3 pt. muley that my Dad missed and my friend missed. We spent a lot of time in 24A and 37B back then.

Got my NM elk tag today. How do you attach it to the animal? Do you lick the back like a stamp? It doesn't seem to have a backing like AZ tags do.

It sucks that you can't even go out to eat and there is someone around to mess with your truck. If I have a gun in my vehicle someone stays with the truck or it is always in sight if we go in somewhere. I had to leave my FJ unlocked in Flagstaff because the dog was in it and setting off the alarm. I made sure I was only about 4 seconds from the truck if one of those hobos tried to take anything.

TJ, she has a 6A jr. elk tag and we put her in for the 23 jr. deer hunt. She will be a busy girl this fall. Looks like you and your Dad should have a memorable elk hunt too.

Great story TJ. I'm sure your Dad is thankful he has you, too. I took my 11 year old daughter to the Hunter Education field day at Rio Salado Sportmans Club on Sunday. She did the online course for the last 3 weeks and passed all her tests. She got her patch and diploma and soon she will have her permanent bonus point.

We were using the wifes .243 BAR. Cheapo Fed. 80 grain bullet.

I got into my account with NM and it charged $535 at 3:12 this morning but it says draw result is pending. It also says results available on line Thursday June 11th at 12:01 a.m. Not sure what to think at this point........

Are the results on the NM web site or are you checking your credit card status? I'm at work so it's hard to do both. Andy (elkhutnaz) I'll try to call you later today.

I'm not going to know what to do if I get drawn. My hours at work and pay have been cut since I applied. I'll still go but probably not for the entire season like I hoped. But, I have to get drawn 1st. I got the E-mail last week saying to make sure the credit card you applied with is still valid etc.etc.

Great pics! We have about the same vacation planned as you just did. We are going in July and even going to see the D-Backs play at Coors field. And more than likely driving up in our White Sequoia. How long did you stay up there? Any other places you recommend going? We will be up there about 8 or 9 days.

My wife will hold out for something decent. ( 5 point or better). She already said she won't shoot a spike. My son will probably get buck fever and start shooting at the 1st bull elk he sees. ( It's his 1st bull tag) My daughter will hopefully shoot the 1st cow that stands still long enough for her to get off a clean shot. I wil be holding out for the biggest cow I see and hopefully take 1 shot from my bow.
