I got Duwane's and Tony's book and there is lots of good stuff in it. I have also ordered maps from Duwane and am awaiting their arrival. We are going up to scout this weekend and learn some areas. My wife and I have the early 12A west hunt. She is not quite as excited about the hunt as I am.

Very nice x2! Way to go.

Way to go! Ryan said you were in bulls about every day. Can't wait for the story and pics.

Congrats on your elk! Those 100 grain Muzzy's are death dealers.
-
One male left. Sounds like TATAat27 got 2 of them. Hope you enjoy them.

4 males/ 1 female. They have 2nd shots. Parents on site and they hunt. P.M. me for sellers info. We bought a brother and sister from this litter. They are very cute and smart. One of the males has a curly coat and another has a mostly solid liver head. They are already looking for birds. The sellers are asking $300. P.m. me if you are interested and I'll set you up with the sellers. Hopefully DownTheBarrel will ask his mommy and daddy if he can get one.

Doug, how long are these prices good for? I might be looking at the Pentax 10 x50 you have.

Your welcome and post some pics! Let us know what you name them. Our female is Hailey and our male is Muzzy.

TATAat27, I hope you and your wife get a puppy or two. They are great. Let us know if you get one.

4 males left. These are now free to good homes. Will be 11 weeks on Monday.

They are offering to give us one for free if we want it. If we didn't have the lab on the way we probably would. These pups can also be seen on AZCentral.com. Go into pets and go to dogs and then the Brittanys are on page 3. I'm pretty sure price is negotiable.

Try to buy a few different selections and see which one groups best in your gun. I shoot a BAR in .270 and the Federal premiums group the best in my gun. 130 grain Sierra GameKings group well for me and so do 150 grain Partitions. Remingtons are all over the place.

A few years back I had an antlerless elk tag. I was walking a fenceline and came across a calf elk hung up on the fence. Her hoof had caught between the top strand and the 2nd strand. She was stuck and not going anywhere. She was struggling to get away. I could tell she had a broken leg and maybe even dislocated her hip. A few minutes later a guy and girl came up on the other side of the fence. He wedged a stick in the strands and got the elk loose. She went about 40 yards and stopped and looked back at us. I could have legally killed this elk. But to me that would have been too easy. It's not the way I want to fill my tag. The girl with the tag did not want to shoot it either. Not sure where I'm going with this story but it is similar to what gr8 white jr. ran across.

My wife and I drew Kaibab early rifle and my son and I got 37B Nov. javelina. We'll try to get a leftover Kaibab turkey tag if there's some left. -
Those are cool looking. Need to find the sheds of the bruiser we saw today.

Seeing those pictures bring back a lot of memories. My friend and I did a rim to rim to rim hike about 16 years ago. Did almost 43 miles in 19 hours. One year a group from work hiked down to Phantom Ranch. There were turkeys down there back then, too. I remember seeing a huge mule deer buck hanging around the cabins. Hope to do another hike down there soon. Thanks for the story and pics.

I have a ripcord on my XT and have had no problems with it. The guy who set up my bow said it was one of the easiest rests to setup and tune.

I hunted my normal Tonto Basin spot on Fri. Got 8 birds in 4 hours. I had to work my a$$ off for those. I found the area to have much fewer birds than the last few years. No 1/2 and 3/4 birds this year. Looks like they only had 1 hatch. Also there was no pear fruit, which they normally eat til the end of the month.

Congrats! I bet you used the greatest caliber in the world. lol

Anyone hunt the unit 7W archery elk hunt?
DUG replied to DesertBull's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
DesertBull, I was up there the 1st weekend. Hunted the junipers. Found elk in groups of 2 to 8. Didn't see any big herds. Good luck on your son's hunt. -
That's a nice bull especially for a first bow kill. Congrats! What unit? Oh, I think someone mentioned unit 1. Right on.
-
I've been there about 7 times now. My wife thinks I live there. Dropped about a grand so far, but I 'needed' all that stuff. No doubt they are pricey but they have good stuff. Any of you elkhunters hunting the cedars should look at the Advantage max 1 camo and the seclusion 3D open country. Cabelas has it and I thought it blended in very well. DUG

Here is another picture of Jason's elk. Maybe this will give a better view for those of you scoring at home.
-
I believe the hunters name is Jason. He is my wifes aunts son in law. I was just sent some pictures of his elk. It is a nice one for sure. Looks like he had a lot of people on his hunt taking pictures. Do you know if his dad tagged out yet? Congrats to Jason for his first big bull elk!

Well, let's hear the story. How far , what unit, bull or cow? Congrats on getting your first! I got my first archery cow in 7w on Sunday morning. 28 yards.
