Thank you everyone for reading Gino's story and Gino thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to shoot a great buck! Gino and Colton are two fabulous hunter and knew what they where doing. I learned a lot of new things about bow hunting that I will always use for the rest of my life. The guy I think his name is Matt I would love to shoot a mule dear that is my next goal for archery hunting. and who ever the guy that shot my other deer from thirty yards like we said no hard feeling and fyi you should have said you shoot from 100 yards because at thirty yards is a very easy shot so there for you suck jk

  10. Hey everone i was bord and decided to write this story out. This is my very first antelope that i shot. On September 12, 2008 was the antelope hunt that my Dad and I went on. On Thursday the day before opening season I went to school. After school I left to go to Prescott for the hunt. The drive was an enjoyable drive for two hours. Finally I get there and of course I have no idea where I was going because I had never driven in Prescott. But my dad had and he was already up there scouting for antelope. So I called him up and had him help me to get to the ranch. Finally I pulled up to the gate to enter one of the ranches where I was allowed to hunt. Then all of a sudden my dad comes to a stop and told me that I need to get in the car with him so we don’t spook the antelope off. So I got out of my truck and got in my dad’s truck. While I was driving down on the road all of a sudden I said stop and grabbed my binoculars and I saw three nice antelope laying down looking right at me. Then I gave the binoculars to my dad and he said no those antelope are too small to be shot at on this ranch. Then he said that there is a Boone and Crockett out on the field that my uncle found early that day. So after looking at the three bucks we decided to move where my Uncle Bob was scouting. When we showed up he said that he lost the big antelope because it laid down and therefore my Uncle had to move to a higher location and couldn’t find it any more. So we all decided to go back to town because it was getting dark. We ate at the steak house and then went right to bed. Everyone woke up at four o clock in the morning and got ready. I took my bag out and got my gear which was a camouflage Under Amour shirt and just regular army pants. At four thirty we all loaded up in the trucks and started to drive to the ranch. At five fifteen we got to the ranch. We raced to the spot where we last saw the antelope and got there before anyone else. The owner of this ranch only lets twelve hunters onto his property. So we got there and started to scout. About forty-five minutes later, no luck on the big antelope. Then we drove to another spot where my dad and his friend Shane were. We finally saw a small buck but had a great mass. So we decided to pass it because it was too early to shoot it. Then my Uncle and I went on the other side of the ranch. While we were on the other side of the ranch all of a sudden I saw these black tall sticks moving in the grass and told my uncle to stop. Then all of a sudden three bucks with two does walked by to us. I didn’t shoot them because they were the same ones as yesterday. I was very disappointed because I really wanted to get one. So we drove down the bumpy road and I saw another buck. This buck was really nice because it was probably a fourteen or thirteen inch buck with a great mass. I was getting really excited and asked if it could make it in the record book. My Uncle Bob said no. I said never mind because I really wanted to get a buck for the record book. Finally it was about eleven and we all were starving, so we went into town and ate at this small restaurant. When we finished eating, I decided, since we were not having very good luck on the hunt, that I would use a bow for this hunt and get a Pope and Young record. So I had both weapons in the car ready to go. We decided to go on the other ranch that the rancher only allows two hunters. The reason why we went on this ranch is because the Antelope is not as afraid of us because they are not use seeing us. When we finally got there we opened the gate and started driving on the road. After two miles we started to see some antelope and I decided that I was going to get the one that was the biggest. So my Uncle Bob and I started to drive very slowly about a hundred yards away and slowly got out and snuck up on them. I got my arrow out and put it in the string. I was so excited that I was going to get one with a bow because I never shot an animal with a bow before. Then all of a sudden I dropped the arrow and looked up at the animal. It seemed that the noise didn’t spook him off. I slowly picked it back up and put it in my Hoyt bow. Then I pulled it back and asked my Uncle how far it was with my range finder. He said seventy-five yard and I said I can’t shoot that far. Then my uncle said just aim a little higher above the back. So I did that, took a couple of breaths, pulled my bow trigger and watched that arrow go right below the buck’s body. All of a sudden I saw the bucks start to run as fast as they could. I was so mad, but I was also happy that I gave my first try to get an antelope with a bow. Then we all got back into the car and drove down more. Suddenly I saw this awesome looking antelope and was really close to it. I got out and I looked in my range finder and it said fifty-five yards. I decided to take the shot so I get my arrow without dropping it pulled it back and aimed right on it back. I pulled the trigger and watched the arrow go right over his back. I started cussing because I missed such an easy shot. My Uncle Bob started to laugh and said that I forgot that he was lower than I was and had to aim lower. And when I found out about that I was even madder because he didn’t say anything about it before. My uncle called my Dad and told him and my Dad started to laugh. Then we started to move down the road for a half hour. I saw this nice buck on top of a hill. Then my Uncle looked at him with his glasses and said that’s the best one we have seen today, so I took his binoculars and look in it and saw those horns and I realized that this was going to the perfect one for me. The reason why I say this because it has good mass, good height, and good paddles. Then I quietly open the car door and crawled up the hill a little closer then got my range finder and it said two hundred and thirty yards. After looking in the range finder I get my 270 Winchester on its bi-pod and aimed just a little higher than I usually would. I took a couple deep breaths and held it to keep it stabled and squeeze the trigger and BOOM, quickly reloaded it to just be sure that it was not going any were. While I was doing it, I saw the antelope fall down right away and I had that greatest feeling that I could possibly have with this buck. My uncle gets out in the car and gave me a big hug and we walked towards it. We got there we realized that we got one bigger than we expected it to be. It was an fifteen inches with six inch paddles and the mass was six inches. It scored seventy -nine and one half. I was disappointed that it didn’t make it on the record book, but it doesn’t matter I am still happy what I got.
