    WTB Youth Bow

Looking for a youth compound bow for my 12 year old son. Diomond Hoyt.. Somthing that he can hunt with and is adjustable. Located in chandler 480-three one six - 5817 thank you chimpn@cox.net
  5. I like gun porn like the rest of y'all 6.5 Grendel 4x12 40 Vortex Diamond Back 18" BHW barrel, Mega Upper w/ YM bolt and Sun Devil Lower. 120 gr Barns
  6. I'll also be up there this weekend with my sons. There is ton of deer all around - I wish Couse Bucks were that plentiful and fearless as the Mulley does. 2" of snow should not make a difference. Last year we had the same hunt and it snowed Friday Night. Sure enough the next morning we saw deer.
  7. I was down in 35A on the Nov 4 th hunt (I was driving a silver Dodge 2500). The weather was rough and the water proofing on my boots failed me. There was 5 of us hunting. We did our part glassing and hiking off the road. We hunted the canyon North of Parker lake for two evenings and walked all the way back. I noticed allot less deer sign then in previous years and the creek bottom was dry. I ran across fresh Mountain Lion and Javalina tracks both days and we only glassed up two does. I talked with other hunters and from what I saw, I believe that the Mountain Lion population took over the area. We also glassed the Lone Mountain area - glassing sheltered slopes from the wind. Nothing! I was really surprised. The only place we saw action was in the draws south of Jones Mesa.

    Backpacks?

I purchased two Eberlestock packs in the last month the new X3 and the Gunslinger II. I kept the Gunslinger II as it has all the bells and whistles and tons of room to carry out meat. I've hunted three seasons with a borrowed pack and a Kelty outside frame pack. They worked, but what a difference with the new pack. I have taken it hiking and the feel is great and less fatigue after having it on my back for hours. Spend the money and be happy.

    35A

I have hunted 35A 3 years in a row and I'm 0 for 3 - all on left-over tags. Awesome place, I was surprised how much water is down there. My advice is go high in elevation. I made the mistake of staring low in the draws. Thick oak brush with allot of does. The bucks always seem to come out at night and I see them as I'm driving back to camp. I've posted a few pics of the area.
  10. Side Scabbard for a scoped hunting rifle, Will also work with our X2 and other packs with external Padlock (PALS/MOLLE compatible) webbing. Olive green. I used this scabbard for two seasons. It's virtually new. 480-316-6247 thx Mitan

    unit 35A

joeybari, I've also got the Nov 27th hunt and plan to be scouting the 2 weekends before. Has the unite gotten enough water? AZ has been really dry I hope the deer have faired well. Last year all I got was a skull 7 feet off the ground in a tree left behind by a cougar. The Game and Fish officer I spoke with said it was over a 120 - dam shame! I usually camp at Parker Canyon Lake, look for a Silver Dodge Diesel. Regards, PJM

    Hunting with an AR

GR, The AR is an excellent rifle in the field. Look into the 6.5 Grendel. I have been building one for just that purpose. One can load the 6.5 Grendel brass with 123 gr, a perfect round for deer. I have all the parts but the barrel, got crazy and bought a couple shotguns. Now the CFO has me on a diet with my discretionary spending. I guess the 6.5 will be out next season. I hunt 35A and know about the two legged critters. Having the extra rounds is not a bad idea. But in my experience, the boarder crossers want nothing to do with you, they're happy to be headed North. Last year we glassed 4 mules carrying large backpacks, took the GPS coordinates that we passed onto boarder patrol. The officer we spoke to said they already picked up the smugglers. Don't worry, your safe Big Brother is watching! The 308 is awesome, but if you have the bull barrel, it's going to get heavy quick lugging it over the from one glass point to another. Regards, PJM

    Reloading Jackpot

Bear Mountain Rocks.. The customer service is great and they price match and their "make me an offer sale" is hard to beat Try getting that at Bass Pro or Guns ETC. I have been looking for small rifle primers for my 6.5 grendle about 8 months. BM had Federal primers for $42. That's awesome!! Their powder prices are cheaper than I've see at BasPro or Sportsman's. I'd rather spend my $$ with a local shop then one of these big corporation stores in the valley. Regards, PJM

    35A success

Nice Buck - Congrats! I was down it 35A this weekend too. Just got lucky enough to glass up 2 doe and spooked 3 bucks. It was a great time for a new guy. Definitely putting in for next year.
  17. Gents, I have a tikka M695 chambered in 270. I've been loading Nosler 130 and 150 gr ballistic tip bullets with IMR4831. I'm looking at loading the Barns TSX, but their web site does not have reload data using IMR 4831. Has anyone reloaded the Barns bullets with 4831? Please share your recipes. Thanks, PJM
  18. Guys, I just got into reloading and my buddy who hooked me up with and RCBS set up always has used 56-57 gr IMR4831 with Sierra 130 BTS. Being a newbie at this I've taken his wise words and loaded with 4831. What recipes are you guys using? Were have you guys found good deals on reloading supplies? I've been going to BassPro and the Mesa Sportsman's. Cabala's is just too far of a drive. Thanks again for the replies! PJM
  19. Guy's thanks for the reply. I finally got through to Barns and got info on the loads they recommend using IMR 4831. Barns suggests loads ranging 53 - 56.5 gr for the 140 gr bullet. I'm loading some rounds this week so I'm going to try 55 gr of IMR. I'll bring my chrono to the range and check the muzzle velocity. I also picked up some Hornady's 130 GR SST's. Have any of you guys tried these? Is fragmentation excessive? Regards, PJM
  20. Guys, I'm a new member and new to the sport. My tag is for unite 35a. I went out this weekend with my hunting partner and scouted Parker Canyon north of the lake. We saw tons of tracks and droppings near the creek that runs into the lake. We also glassed for several hours and no deer! Is anyone familiar with Unite 35a and willing to give a newbie some advice? Thanks, PJM
  21. Guy's, I can't say how awsone you've been giving me good advice. The current BINO's I have is a set to Nikon's I don't know the specs. My hunting partner has a set of the Vortex 15X. I used them last weekend.. and WOW they're nice. Yes I'd like a set of 15 x 56 Swarovskis but the Mrs. does not see that one in the budget. I'm trying to make it down South one more time before opening day. Hope to see alot more then Havalina traks and/or signs of UDA.

  23. Guy's, Thank You for the quick replies. Yes I'm also worried that the area will be over run with hunters. Is there another place I should be checking out? What about Bishop Tank and Hear Tank on the West side of parker canyon?? Thanks, PJM
