Most posts that start out with "I know a guy..." are scammers. But coming from Lance, no worries.

Loved following your hunt. Great job writing it up for us and congratulations on connecting on the shot! There's nothing like hunting Coues.

"20-30 years ago 10 was so amazing to hunt." So true. I remember sitting on the gas line hill glassing to the flats by Button tank and having elk, deer, and antelope in the same field of view. Good times. -
That's a lot of good meat! Congrats and enjoy it.

At one of the places I have hunted, there is a cattle trail (it's been a cattle trail for over 30 years) that leads off of a mesa and goes about 200 yards down to another smaller mesa. Recently someone in a sxs decided to make a road out of the trail. I took the time to stack boulders across the trail in about 5 different choke points in an attempt to let them know that this wasn't a road. I knew a jerk would just get out and move some of them to drive thru again, but I guess I was hoping that a one timer or a real hunter that wasn't a puke would get the idea that this wasn't a road. Phfff, no such luck. The next two times I went there the boulders were moved and there were fresh tire tracks there. I have owned a quad and driven off road many times and loved riding as much as the next guy. so, I'm not anti ATV. I was just hoping to keep a little piece of paradise unspoiled for a little longer. I want to hunt where someone else wants to ride thru, all part of being in the public hunting grounds. (This was not in a designated wilderness area)

Man that sucks. Some people are just jerks that don't think about how what they do affects others.

That's the kind of buck that will keep a guy up at nights thinking about it. Good luck finding him in season and let us know how it plays out.

I've used a deer decoy a few times. Only had a buck come into the tank I was sitting once, but it worked like I wanted it to. It was January and he walked right by me and was looking at the "doe" standing by the waters edge. I was able to get a broadside 23 yard shot. I either leave the antlers off it or I would put a small rack on it so the buck would know he could kick its arse. Sometimes I put out my turkey decoy to give the deer the sense that it must be all clear to come in if the turkey is there. I think that anything that gets the deer's attention means he is less likely to notice you.

I have some misc 270 reloading items you can have if you can put them to use. I have had them in my ammo bag in the garage for about 20 years and I don't reload. A neighbor gave them to me so I'll pay it forward. If your interested, let me know.

Psssst Sneaker, haven't ya heard, blackface isn't PC anymore. Congrats on a great bull!

Way cool! I used to hunt at a waterhole in 22 that was surrounded by tall reeds and it had at least a dozen turtles swimming in it. I think they were box turtles though. Hope you find the deer!

Whatever happened to "herd immunity" being a looked for outcome to getting back to normal life? ( I haven't heard any gov official or cdc type mention it in quite a while.) As opposed to suspending our constitutional rights under the guise of government trying to protect the people from the unvaxed. Anyway, I wish you all health, happiness, and a full freezer.
