One of the best wild game meals I ever had was mt. lion. Buddy threw a hunk in a dutch oven with onions and potatoes. Makes my mouth water thinking about it.

We used to hunt a water hole back behind Sunflower area. Mile marker 222 had a dirt road that took you back to the base of the Matazals (sic) The two track road got so bad we swore it off just before they closed it. Pucker factor got too high for me.

Whether you get a ticket and or fine imposed is determined by the G&F officer and the judge you encounter. If the winds in your face, you're fine. If the wind's at your back, you're screwed. I mistakenly shot a 3point muley instead of a whitetail I had a tag for. I called G&F and self reported the error. They said the warden for that unit was out of town and another officer from a different unit was filling in for him and he would find me. I was crushed and humiliated but I did what I thought at the time was the right thing. I was in a very remote area and tried as best as I could to relate to them how to find me. I skinned and gutted the deer and took care of the meat as to keep it salvageable. I waited 24 hours for him , but no one showed up so I headed back towards town. On the way I spotted a game and fish truck at the old rockhouse gas station off of 288 just north of the Salt River. I approached him and started to explain my situation and he interrupted me part way through it to angerly demand to know where the heck I had been. He said he spent hours looking for me and couldn't find me. He was really in a foul mood and made sure I knew how pissed he was. He asked why I had skinned and gutted it if I wasn't planning on keeping it (like a poacher). I explained that I had already made one mistake by shooting the wrong deer, I wasn't going to make another by letting the meat go bad. He clearly didn't like my answer and wrote me a ticket on the spot. When I went to court, the judge apparently was on the same page as the warden after reading his version of what happened, and he fined me. Left a pretty sour taste in my mouth. I honestly don't know if I'd make that call if it ever happened again.

I put my "shooter buck" target minus the antlers next to a waterhole to see if it would help distract a buck. Had this guy come in and stop at 23 yds with a broadside shot. I'm going to try using it for Coues this Dec and Jan with some grunts and doe calls to see if I can pull one out of a canyon I like. I've got salt and a brushed in blind on a ridge top that has been there for a few years so they should be used to it by now. I just have to sneak in quietly in the dark and see what happens

I can't wait to vote for Mr. Trump again! The dems and the press got used to telling the world how horrible and stupid the repubs were since Nixon without any public pushback by the repubs. For 8 years George Bush let the media grow bolder and bolder in their vitriol about repubs. He never responded to the crap that was said not only about him, but by extension all repubs. The narrative got more and more hateful about anyone the left disagreed with. It became the new normal to bash anyone who didn't fall in line with the radically left dem positions. Enter Donald Trump, and he fights back. The lefts heads explode. How dare he not accept their narrative. I for one LOVE it when he fights back and calls them out. He made a lot of political enemies from both sides of the aisle when he promised to drain the swamp. Mccain hated him so much , he wouldn't vote to end obummer care just to spite him, despite promising to when he was campaigning the last time around. I have never agreed with all of any one politicians positions. But, I would still take Bush over Gore, Romney over Obama, and Trump over Hillary. I was disappointed with Trumps position on bump stocks, but that isn't a deal breaker with me. How anyone can claim he hasn't kept any of his campaign promises is baffling to me. Oh well, that's enough for now. Think I'll go sight in my 270 ( while it's still legal,TeeHee) and see if it's still hitting the mark.
