I have been to quite a few of the 3-D tourneys in recent years and regret not going years ago. It's a lot of fun and you meet other shooters/hunters who enjoy helping out novices like me. Just shoot to your own abilities and don't think you're going to beat guys that can shoot constant 12's.

I had no dog in that fight (didn't give a crap who won that game) but this pretty well sums up how I saw the exchange. I enjoyed most of Tony's posts', but seems he got pretty butt hurt and just said "See ya"

My family and I are having a Celebration of Life Service for my dad this Saturday at noon. Attached is his obit with some of his life's highlights. Hope you'll indulge me as I brag a little bit about my dad. I was fortunate to have him in my life. He's gonna leave a big hole.

There is a shoot in Dragoon the weekend of the 19th of this month. It's worth the drive, it's a fun shoot without the 9000ft elevation to climb in like Sunrise. The deadline to register is soon (not sure the exact date). Good luck on the hunt!

Marine Lt. Colonel David L. Althoff (Ret), Aviator of the Year 1968, recipient of 3 Silver Stars, father, community leader, passed away early this morning. I want to thank all who offered a prayer or held a space for him, even if just for a second. Semper Fi.

My father has been dealing with macular degeneration for over 6 years and has started getting much worse to the point he is just about blind now at 89. He has been feeling run down and dizzy for a few months and just found out that is due to leukemia. We don't know if it's going to be manageable or not yet. He has always been a hard charging Marine and it is taking its' toll on his spirits so I sure would appreciate any support. Thanks, Doug.

I was waiting for my pizza at Nellos last night and they were on the tv at the bar. Someone (I couldn't identify male/female/other) was commenting for the broadcast team wearing the most bizarre outfit. I couldn't help but laugh and the gal next to me was snickering at it too. Feel sorry for the athletes but that was a complete shite show. Some moron made the decision to put this person on air. Add another sporting event to the list I can't stomach anymore.

654321, are the pics from the AZGFD cameras that are set at water catchment sites "public knowledge" or confidential ?

I think every archer has had a bout of "buck fever" at one time. The last two deer I connected on with a bow I was able to hold the pin almost perfectly still and I hit where my pin was holding. I didn't start power shaking until after the shot, then I was a hot mess. (It was awesome) The last deer I tried to shoot at, I had two nice 3 pointers coming into my waterhole and I told myself I was going to shoot at the first one to give me an opportunity, even though the second one was noticeably bigger. When the first one got to 32 yards and turned to look back at the bigger guy, I drew and shot and saw my arrow sail over his back. I couldn't think straight and was shaking like a little kid before the shot. I still relive that f-up and can't explain why I couldn't calm down before the shot. It happens.
The best advice I can give is to get a precise pre-shot routine that you can concentrate on as your drawing the arrow back. Then TRY to concentrate on the follow through.
A clean miss is better than a poor hit that only wounds the animal.

What knothead said ^^^ Anybody that is thinking about trying 3-d could go to Usery and shoot the 3-d course they have set up there. You can do it without an audience and get comfortable shooting at animal size targets without a bale behind it. The first few shots can be intimidating but you can shoot from any distance you want-you don't have to shoot from the markers. You can use a rangefinder or guess the distances. Just be ready to get hooked cause it's very addicting.
