Ok, I am ready to toss a number into the hat.... I am being conservative to say 30 stands without a single call in! I spent a day in 42 from flats to mt. and another day in 21 from low desert to transitions country........ I love the advice on how to get it done.... Cracks me up... Next question would have to be what is your average. I took a guy from back east calling a couple years ago and he asked me my average I think I will start that story with another post....... Whitey

ok, I will start with this.... I hosted a small calling contest last weekend and made 20 stands in one full day..... nothing came in at all! ( except for 5 doe mule deer) Now, I have been calling for 30 years with some good results........ I then gave it a rest and took my 11 year old son for a day and and 1/2 to a completely different spot for a day and a half and ............... nothing.... Did I lose my mojo or what?

This is the same dog I had for sale for $1,000. She is a open ticked gsp, handles well, will heel on command, points well, great nose, hunts medium wide, holds a ton of pressure, will honor another dog, and is not gun shy at all. She is all business. Needs some work on her retrieve, but is a 90% made dog! I will take the first $600 for her. When you consider that pups are $400 and up, and guys are getting $600 and up for 30 days of training this is a good deal. all the trial you want on this dog. She is papered as well, so you could breed her and get $400 -500 per pup if you are into that. pm if interested.. I would also trade for the right rifle or handgun. Thanks, Whitey

I have both and love both! I load 150 accubonds in the wsm and 180 in the wm. The only thing I can say from my first hand knowledge is that the short mag gets the same fps with a shorter barrel. This I like a lot. My 300 win mag has a 26 inch barrel plus a muzzle break; it is sometimes a pain in the @$ to carry in the thick stuff. The WSM has a 23 inch barrel and feels like you are carrying around a much smaller rifle. With that being said, I think if your main objective is game smaller than elk (150 or 165) bullet I would go with the short mag. If you want to shoot a heavier bullet like 180 or 200 gr. I know that the win mag will handle them better.... Hope that helps, or confuses you more????? You can't go wrong either way. I would grab either one for anything in AZ including elk, and feel 100 % confident with it. Whitey

Was out this sunday glassed 5 different bucks, only one with does. a young 3x3 at that. One 180 ish was solo, one 3x3 was solo, and two true monsters were together like best friends.....I think it is near done where I hunt, but I have seen a "second" rut with the does that did not take the 1st go around. I took my kids out quail hunting outside of Bagdad... Between spots between quail hunting we decided to make a stand in a large rock pile.. I told them we will call a fox for sure..... Not one, but two... Look like happy kids 2 me. Dad shot them both at 900 yards!!!!! Ok 200, but who is counting.. Whitey
