What is recommended rings/bases for Vortex Viper 44mm on Rem 700 LA?
Viper replied to Viper's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
Thanks! This looks like the simpler way to go. Should be a solid setup with less attachment points. They also have a 20 moa version. -
A 405" pose The taxidermist should have customer's mounts to use as examples, or a picture book.

So, is aluminum ok? I would think if you have steel rings, you would want a steel base to prevent damage to the softer base. Also, is the different expansion/contraction properties (CTE) of steel receiver vs aluminum base/rings worth considering? I do want to keep weight down, but how much weight difference is there between steel and Al?...ounces, right? I would like to keep total cost under $150...preferably under $100. But I don't want a weak setup either. The options are mind boggling. -

Thanks for the replies! I only have this one rifle for hunting and probably won't be tinkering. Once it's set up to my liking, it stays put. Will a 20 moa rail vs 0 moa rail change my cheek/eye position much?....(showing my ignorance)....or is it the ring height only. -
I am seeing coues and pigs on my salt this winter.

Someone I know bought his through Amazon for the same sale price. You might check their availability.

How do these compare to the 10 year old Leica, Zeiss, Swaro non-hd scopes of comparable objective size and magnification? I am thinking of replacing my older Zeiss 65mm with a larger scope.

Good info here. I will soon be a Ram diesel owner, for the first time. 2014 SLT. I will be reading a lot of forums. Hopefully it won't be more of a pain than it's worth.

Thanks for the heads up!! Just ordered the 65 and 20.

Can this be used for archery as well? What is the minimum range?

"But is it ok to ask a hunter you come across if they've seen anything/ or had any encounters or is that something you keep to yourself while out in the field?" Don't ask, don't tell "...and when I come back up I lose them. They're totally gone and I can't relocate them." They have trap doors...I swear it...

That would be fun to go to. Isn't it only open to folks in the industry, not general public?

Holy smokes!! Great bucks!

Not sure why they would give the exact location anyhow. There were still claim jumpers then. Could be a little misleading.

OK, after reading the article, this doesn't match the description either. 15 miles west of Payson and south of E. Verde puts it about 6 miles into the wilderness, past Doll Baby Ranch, which apparently was Taylor Ranch. I love maps, especially old ones.

There is a House Place Spring below/east of North Peak, north of Boyd Mnt. There is an old mine road, off the main road 414, that heads west into the higher foothills. they are all scarred up with old mining activity. The 414 will be a mess for a while, with this weather. I just looked at the old map posted earlier. It shows House Mine at this location I mentioned.
