Is the gong AR500?

Let us know what deal you find. I too am in the market for a "newer" truck. I am weighing options.

I have a .243, Smith & Wesson, Howa 1500 action, wood stock, crisp light trigger, with a Leupold 3x9 scope.

Great glass. I love my 12x50's. Mine are 11 years old and still great image.

I am looking for opinions/advice. I will be helping my buddy and his daughter on her youth deer hunt this weekend. We may split up to cover more ground. I would like to carry my rifle in case I glass up a lion. Is this frowned upon by G&F? Should I leave it in camp and just carry my sidearm? Have you had a bad experience with this in the past?
-
Thanks guys. I feel better about carrying it. It would be a blast to shoot coyotes.

I'm not finding a "Kuiu Raffle" page on the site. Maybe post a direct link? So is this tax-deductable?

...and if you have to drop it for the final stalk, then can't find it later...no big deal.

I have used a tall Stoney Point adjustable bipod for several years. It compresses down to around 20" to use while sitting, and expands to standing height. I use it as a walking stick and is ready to deploy in seconds if needed. It is very light weight, as it is made of aluminum. The leg adjustments are the twist-lock type. I have not had it collapse on my weight yet...but I'm only 170 lbs. I also use a homemade "Moses" pole, as mentioned above. I make them from yucca stalks. Find a nice straight one and cut it to the right height to rest your binos on top for glassing on the go. I get fancy with mine, wrapping with fringed leather and such. You do need to wrap them, or wear gloves, or you will get splinters. You could screw in a wrapped screw for a shooting rest I suppose, or use the wrist idea you mention. Personally, I prefer the shooting stability of a bipod over a monopod. I mainly use the "Moses" pole for scouting/hiking. Similar to this Primos. Couldn't find Stoney Point. http://www.cabelas.com/product/Primos-reg-Pole-Cat-Shooting-Sticks/1615721.uts?productVariantId=3503661&WT.tsrc=PPC&WT.mc_id=GoogleProductAds&WT.z_mc_id1=03689771&rid=20&gclid=CNO9qsXBwc8CFU1cfgodONUEYw&gclsrc=aw.ds

Just placed an order and saved $46. Good deal!

This is the one I bought at Sportsmans. Has held up so far, after about 50 rounds. Some have a thick ring mount that requires you to remove your scope to install....something to be aware of when choosing. http://www.sportsmanswarehouse.com/sportsmans/Vortex-Lo-Pro-Rifle-Scope-Bubblevel/productDetail/Scope-Accessories/prod99999044206/cat131502

Rem 700 XCR .270 with scope is 8.5 lbs.

You have to have a level on your scope at that range.

Wow! Great bull and great story! I think thieves that take your hunting gear should be punished like a horse thief of the old west.....hang by the neck until dead. Glad you was able to rebound and get it done.

For future reference, will this size fit 12x50 Leica Trinovids? Thinking of trying them out.

Interesting. Seems to have all the quality features. And Lifetime warranty. I look forward to your review.

Yeah the instructions said the screw should make 3 full turns. I thought that was kinda vague. I was just going to snug them up but I'll try the 60-65lbs ...inch pounds. I bought the Wheeler scope mounting kit. It came with the fat wrench. Works well.
