My buddy and I came to that same realization this weekend as well. He runs out of turret adjustment around 650 yards. He will need the 20 moa rail as well. He is shooting a brand new Savage 111 LRH in 6.5 x 284 Norma with a Vortex HS-T 4 - 16 x 44. I told him it will be a perpetual learning and tweeking process.

I've still got a bunch of those for my old setup.

Watch Where You Step - The Aftermath / How to Skin That Snake

I need a new hatband. -
I assume its a floated barrel. Maybe some debris got jammed down in between the barrel and stock.

What are hunter knobs? Are they turrets?

Poor guy. Looks like Shirley Temple.

I received the new B&C Alaskan II stock for my Remote 700. Aluminium bedding block, floated barrel....except for the "nubules" at the far forend of the stock. I can run a folded dollar bill between the whole barrel and stock, except at the stock end where it makes contact. Should this be touching the barrel? Do I need to sand it down?

Yeah... .270 on top! I use a Rem 700 XCR .270 in a B&C stock, bedded recoil lug. Shoots Hornady 140 BTSP real good out to 500 yards. Weighs 8.5 lbs with scope.

Barrel cleaning how often and accuracy
Viper replied to Paladin529's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
Oh, I've been cleaning too much then. I usually clean after each outing, which is typically 20 - 40 rounds. Maybe that's one of the reasons I seem to be having trouble getting tight groups. -

You'll get a bunch of opinions on this. I've researched this too. I like this guy's videos. He is an ex-sniper and sniper trainer with real field experience, and keeps it simple. I like the Gunwerks videos too. My rifle also shoots better after a couple fouling shots. -
I have a bag of 7 1/2 shot, I believe. I only use it for my lead sled, so shot size doesn't matter to me. I work in west Chandler and live in east Mesa.

I have a pair similar to these: http://www.baselineequipment.com/crackshot-corp-snake-guardz-gaiter They fit and wear well. I mainly bought them when we were hunting in "shin dagger" country. There was so much of it, you couldn't find a place to sit on the ground. Nasty stuff....worse than snake bite.

I have that DVD set. I've watched it a few times...very interesting, cool stuff. Some of it is a bit over my head...talking in "mils". I'm trying to learn better technique as well, mainly to see what my rifle can do as I try to make it more accurate. Fun stuff!

It fits me true to size. Some will say to size up...that didn't work for me. It is an "athletic" fit, so form fitting. I am 6' and 170 lbs. The large jackets and shirts fit great. The only pants I have are the Attack. I wear around a 35 in jeans and the Kuiu 34 fit great with enough room to tuck in a shirt. Hope that helps.

Is this the Norma?

Walmart, camofire.com, classifieds, craigslist...

I made my own with carpet on the bottom. They don't wear out.

Got the new B&C stock....fit question??

gotta have a good rest. Did you get yours yet? What are you putting it on? -

Yeah, I considered that. After some research I found that the lighter sporter barrels may need the foreward stock contact to dampen the barrel whip. We'll see. -

I did Sunday. It wasn't grouping very well...about 2". I loosened the forward action screw a 1/8 turn and the groups tightened up to nearly 1". The original torque was 60 inch pounds. After I got home, I did more reseach and found that torque can very from 35 - 65 inch lbs. I took it apart and re-torqued it to 40. I need another outing to see how it does. I'll take my equipment and make adjustments in the field. To be fare, my shooting bench setup wasn't that great. I will have a better setup next time. -
I need the tires but not the wheels.
