I am not familiar with these tarp/tipi floorless setups. Is it comfortable to go floorless in AZ? How do you keep an inflatable sleeping pad from puncture? Any problems with spiders/scorpions/mosquitoes/gnats? It seems like a great setup...light, compact. It seems to be a great deal. I checked prices....$570 if bought new.

I did a day trip last year around this time. We hiked in from the west side, about 1/3 way back from the lake...I'm guessing. We were the only ones there the whole day. Fished about a mile upstream and back. Caught a few nice rainbows. The hike out was killer. Ran across 4 black-tail rattlers within that span. Next time, I will wear snake guards.

My buddy got drawn for 5B-S early Nov. archery bull. He asked me to post for advice/tips/tactics on this hunt. We have hunted 5B-S for early archery bull for many years and taken many bulls/cows from our favorite area, which is near FR211. However, this November hunt is a whole different game.....since the bulls are not bugling. Any advice, tactics, experience on this particular hunt is appreciated. Is it hard to find the elk this time of year? Should we expect the elk to be further north, into the junipers? or is this based on weather? The bulls should be separated from the cows...right? Where we hunt in September is not very conducive to glassing. Is it more effective to glass more open country? Thanks in advance!

Congrats! Great job! It is quite an accomplishment taking a deer, of any size, with a bow...let alone, on your own. I love to see young people, especially young women take to hunting. I think it gives them a better perspective on life...and death, and more confidence to face life's challenges. Way to go!

I had this exact model for many years. It held up very well. Bought it new in '98. I sold it maybe 5 years ago due to limited use. It was quite comfortable, with all the amenities. Mine had a "baja lift" on it, so it had good ground clearance, and no hanging plumbing.

Finding and Hunting Giant Coues Bucks with Devin beck
Viper replied to Jay Scott's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
Good podcast and topic! Good info. Helps to reaffirm the tactic of glassing into the shady brush...all day. -
Oh yeah You know it's bad when you have to take your pants off and use your Havilon to cut it out I know what you mean. I made that mistake one year...came home with 20 holes in each shin. I wear snake guards in shin-dagger country now. They work great.

Very nice buck! You gotta go where the big boys live. I cringe when I see "shin daggers"
-
I have both, for that reason. Mostly hunt south though.

Looks like the area we hunt, near Oracle. We've been seeing coues in there for the last 6 or 7 years. You two are killers!

Wow! Great bucks! She's spoiled for life now....gonna be hard to live with until you get a couple that size.

Go to Caswell's or C2 Tactical and try them out. I shot the Shield in .40 and the XDs in 9mm. It's a toss up. The recoil is quite noticeable with the Shield .40. I prefer to stick with .40. I have the XDm .40 compact and love it. It is pretty concealable, but could be better, on my skinny body. I don't like a thumb safety, so I like the two safeties of the XDm/XDs...backstrap safety and trigger safety. My son is planning to buy the XDs in 9mm....so maybe I'll wait and play with it for a while.

Pretty cool! Sink hole? I don't know if I would have the guts to go in.
-
Nice bull!! Do you have a truck lined up to pick it up?
-
Really cool and fancy looking....how do they work and what type of call sound do they make?
-
That is the important question...what is the height measurement under the rear bed?

Sold - thanks mbiewer (Matt). Nice to meet you.

I have had this gun cabinet for over 20 years, and finally replaced it with a safe. It is well made of oak and in great shape. Locking cabinet door and storage door. Interior light. $50 Located in east Mesa. I can haul it in to work in west Chandler if that helps. Thanks for looking - Brad

We were in 4A also. Called in a tom Fri morning and Sat morning, but couldn't get a shot. Decided to pack up the tent camp and head home late Sat morning to miss the weather. Congrats on your success!
