I drew the late (Nov) archery bull in 22-S. My first archery elk hunt out of the rut....probably gonna be a tough hunt.

Are bipods really worth the extra weight?
Viper replied to AZ_SAWBUCK's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
No doubt, a bipod is very stable. I have a Harris...the non-cant version...tall enough to sit up. However, it doesn't fit in my Eberle scabbord, which is attached to my Eberle X2 pack. So I usually leave the Harris in camp. I carry a Stoney Point extendable bipod. I works well as a walking stick, and is already deployed for a standing shot. If time allows, I can use my tripod as the front rest and the SP bipod as a rear rest, but this takes some messin' around. I think I would like a quick connect bipod setup...like the Snipe Pod. Not sure I like the "tent pole" type assembly. Anyone have experience with that type of bipod? -
I wasn't sure what to do after selecting the radio button....so I hit enter. That seemed to work. Might want to include in your instructions.

BIG BUCKS FROM CHIHUAHUA, MEXICO.
Viper replied to Leo Duran's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Mexico
Holy Drop-tines! Those are great bucks! -
I don't recall all the specific years, besides the more recent. Early 90's: Two rifle cow, both successful 1995: Sept. archery bull, 5B-S, not successful (didn't know what I was doing) 2001: Sept. archery bull, 5B-S, successful (learned a bunch from camera hunts) 2002 - 2010: four archery cow tags, three successful (was putting in for 1st choice bull, 2nd/3rd choice cow) 2011: Sept. archery bull, 4B, not successful...got picky hunting a couple big bulls and passed on smaller ones (higher draw odds than 5B-S. First time my partner and I put in on seperate apps, and I got drawn) 2013: Nov. archery bull, 22-S, 2nd choice (first archery tag out of the rut. Played the draw odds and got a tag...tough hunt...we'll see how it goes) If you want to hold out for good bull tags, you won't draw often. Even cow tags are getting hard to get. For a while I put in for 1st choice bull, 2nd/3rd choice cow and got cow tags. I then decided I only wanted a bull tag and drew once in an unfamiliar area. This year I decided I just want a tag, so I put in for 1st choice bull 5B-S, 2nd choice Nov bull 22-S...got it. At least I got a tag.

That honeycomb rim pattern does seem like it could be a mud collector. Sure looks that way. Although, if there's any flex in the wheel itself it could be kinda "self cleaning". Very interested to see how they do. I'm sure there'll be some bugs with such a radical new design. I was thinking the same thing....about covering the sidewall. My concern would be good size sticks getting into the honeycomb and flipping up and wacking me in the head, or rocks flinging everywhere. Nobody would want to ride behind you. An acquaintance of mine said he has been running steel belted radials, made for ATV's. Said he ordered them from a company in Georgia. Got real good performance out of them. I'm thinking they would be a lot harder to plug in the field than regular ATV tires.

That's a good tag! I got the Nov archery bull hunt. I will probably be scouting during your hunt. We have hunted coues in that area for several years. You definitely have to scout as much as possible. It is very rough, steap and brushy. We have seen more elk in there each year. Congrats and good luck.

My wife and I will probably go one day. Haven't looked at the lineup yet.

I understood the new antifreeze was not poison anymore....seems I heard this maybe 5 years ago. Due to people usually drain it down the curb and pets drink it. Anyone know for sure? I have the same problems with strays in east Mesa. The guy behind me feeds them. They nest in his shed. They kill our birds, poop in my garden, etc... mostly at night, so it's hard to get them in your sights. I'm thinking a trap-line may be the answer. Just have to make trips to the desert a couple times a week to feed the coyotes.

Congrats! Nothing new for me yet.

Even if the results are out this week, most of us won't get through to G&F until 2:00am Monday morning....after the system crash and thousands of busy signals.

Interesting reading! If citizens could challenge polliticians, that would certainly keep them in line. -
I bought the Garmin 450t used off this site from a guy in Texas for $100. I loaded a free topo map on it, from a website (can't remember the name). It has worked quite well. The screen brightness is dark in the sunlight. I had to go into the menu and turn off the colors. The white map shows up much better. It is a way better option than my old Magellan that didn't have map capability. I believe the newer Garmin models have fixed the dark screen issue.

I am wondering if these will fit my Arctic Cat 500 ATV. I think the lug pattern is different. I'll have to check the tire size when I get home.

Wow! Amazing! Wish I could fish like that.

Thanks Amanda! Good job. This should help with exposure to L&F posts.

There are several lost and found posts throughout the year and no specific forum to post to. I recently posted found items and wasn't sure of the best forum to post to so I posted to three different ones.

Evan, she is a cutie! That is a fun age. I remember when my boys were that age....lots of fun. Above all, make your outings/learnings fun and she will stick with it. I find that young ladies brought up in the outdoors, learning to shoot/hunt, are well adjusted and more self-sufficient...a good foundation for the rest of their life.
