4 x 4 the hard way, congratulations!

Glad you cleared this up. I don't know anybody who does cheap taxidermy, but if you really needed to save some money I was going to recommend a discount gunsmith, a guy who will sell you reloads for almost nothing, and a really nice tweeker who can do brake jobs. Just don't skimp on the taxidermy.

Stupid buck decided to bed down infront of my camera
Pine Donkey replied to bowhuntaz1's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
Id say he makes the 105 mark, gross. Put him on the ground and let us know. -
That is a bunch of pigs! I love the eyeguards on that buck.

Emily that is a great first buck, congratulations! It's cool that your buck is bigger than your dad's buck. I have a bum knee too, do you think I can borrow Jimmy later this month?

Enjoy the memories of the first deer. Thanks for posting.

Congratulations to all. These memories will last a lifetime.

The first deer is always special. Congratulations

This morning Garrett, his girlfriend Geneva, and Cody headed out to find Geneva a buck. The weather was pretty nasty, but they were able to glass up this buck at about 7:00. Garrett and Geneva moved on the deer while Cody stayed back as the spotter. The buck bedded breifly in some thick stuff, but when he stood up, she was ready. After a few practice shots, Geneva found the mark!

The effective range depends on your loads, comfort, and hour of practice. Certainly it will be dependable well beyond 250 yards if you put the range time into it.

Those are some very nice deer. It is nice when everything goes your way. Congratulations.

first coues buck long shot!!!!!!!
Pine Donkey replied to couesman77's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
Congratulations on your buck and the shot. How about some pictures! -
I agree. We end up eatin a lot of the "crap" meat by using the crock pot. One trick my wife uses is that when she puts it into the crockpot, she adds a can of cola. The sugars help break things down and make it even more tender.

Nice buck, congratulations!

These rumors seem to pop up each year around this time. Maybe this is the year the Stockwell buck will be beat, maybe not. Until someone puts it on the ground it is only a big MAYBE. Regardless, good luck to whoever might be chasing a stud, post stories and pictures.

Mounting a deer is not about a score as much as it is about preserving the memory of the hunt. Your buck is nice, but it wont set any records, however you and your dad may have made some world class memories. If this buck on the wall will be a constant reminder of those memories, you may want to mount it.

BigOrange, I'll make it a bit tougher for you...My son took his girlfriend out in 35A this morning. By 6:40 they had glassed 11 does and 3 bucks. One buck was over the 100 inch mark. She missed him. The wind down here is really starting to blow. Better pack some pants with big pockets so you can fill them with rocks. Good luck

Vortex 6-20x50 vs. Barska 8-26x 50???
Pine Donkey replied to Gut Pile's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
Vortex is a good product if you are not wanting to step up to the high end scope and their warranty is unbeatable. Barska is pretty much a piece of junk, and they do not stand behind their stuff. If you are looking to limit your shots to the 300 range, have you thought about something like the nikon or burris with a BDC redicle. Heck, with a 300RUM just a regular redicle would work pretty well. No worries about adjustments, and the durability is good.
