Vortex is a good product if you are not wanting to step up to the high end scope and their warranty is unbeatable. Barska is pretty much a piece of junk, and they do not stand behind their stuff. If you are looking to limit your shots to the 300 range, have you thought about something like the nikon or burris with a BDC redicle. Heck, with a 300RUM just a regular redicle would work pretty well. No worries about adjustments, and the durability is good.

Go out glassing in the morning and leave your gun in the truck. If you find a good buck, bed it down. Then go back to your truck, site in your gun to the new ammo, hike back to the buck and wait for him to stand.
