Jerk stick and jerky gurus--I need your help
Pine Donkey replied to SWDesertRat's topic in Cooking Wild Foods
My favorite recipe I stole from rossislider. http://www.coueswhitetail.com/forums/topic/41672-sweet-mesquite-coues-jerky-time/?hl=%2Bsweet+%2Bjerky I have done about 40 pounds this way and it never stays around long enough to be frozen or need nitrates. -
Mid day is often overlooked on water, especially when it is warm.

I am a die hard cat fan, but they just don't have a very good team right now. For the life of me I can't figure out why Dinker is the starting QB. None of the QBs had any experience going into the season...then RR invested a year into a senior? We have a couple very good receivers, but now body can catch a ball that is one-hopped to you. 4th quarter yesterday we used a three man rush every play. With no pressure on the QB he stood in there until his receivers broke open. No DB can hold coverage for 10 and 15 seconds. Carey is the only legit stud on the team, and in the second half, they must have forgot about him. This is why cat fans talk about basketball season...it's a much more pleasant conversation!

That was a minute of my life I will never get back. Not sure if something good happened later in the video, but just couldn't keep watching.

That great! A beer spitter!

The pics I saw were of a 35a buck. Complete stud. The shooter may post pics eventually, but he may be planning to use them along with an article or advertisement of his business.

Pine Donkey replied to tsquare602's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
Yeah its getting mounted for sure. (even though the wife is giving me a very hard time about it.) I hope to have a rough green score on it soon too. Any estimates? Might be time for a new wife! Lol Truly a buck of a lifetime, congratulations! -

This year, my son moved to Flagstaff to go to college, and everyone in the family drew elk tags so we did not do much scouting for coues. I have been looking forward to using my new 25-06. This gun is a great shooter, and dead on out to 500 yards. Friday we found a good one that my wife went after, but could not connect. Saturday produced another good buck, but when he zigged we zagged and he gave us the slip. Today at first light Garrett and his friend Cody glassed up another good buck running with a smaller buck; the mile plus stalk was on. As we moved in they fed into a deep cut they often bed in. We moved to the edge of the cut and saw the smaller buck as he passed through a gap at about 150 yards. He busted us and ran out with the other buck in tow. On the other side of the gap is about 150 yards of thick brush as the mountain gets steep. We saw them several times as they busted their way through the thick stuff, small buck in the lead the whole way. Quickly they broke into the shorter brush 350 yards up the hill. A quick check for antlers on the lead buck and boom. You guessed it, they switched places and I drilled the dink! Even though this was not the deer I wanted, it was still a great hunt. It was wonderful hunting with Garrett, my wife Chrystie and our daughter Laurie. This buck will be good eating and the time with family is worth more than any big buck.
