Tailings from flagstone? -
Very nice buck. Beautiful picture with the twilight sky! Congratulations to all.

They never had any hogs come into the stands. The place was thick with them in years past, but the manager has been working hard to bring the numbers down...guess it is working.

Economic impact of mining on forum members

There have been deer and pigs throughout those tailings for years. I remember chasing deer in the Anamax property while a friend watched out for the security guards. I also remember a night we packed a beer cooler to the top of the tailings pond to party under the Christmas tree, only to be scared off when a lion was spotted. This was back in the early 80's, I still hear stories of big muleys living on the tailings. I guess they like whatever was planted up there to keep the dust down. -
If you divide the cost of the reintroduction program by the estimated number of wolves ( x dogs) you will find each of those wolves is worth almost $200,000. That's an expensive dog in anybody's book!

Economic impact of mining on forum members

According to my dictionary mining is, "To extract (ores, minerals etc.) from the earth." Based on this definition even the gas fired plants rely on mining. This reminds me of a bumper sticker on my dads work truck when I was a little boy. It said, "If you can't grow it, you have to mine it". These are the only ways we can get natural resources in this world. -
Great story! Those are two stud bucks, congratulations to the both of you.

Watch out! Often a drought is followed by a flood! Congratulations.

That's a great but, first or last, gun or bow. Congratulations.

Congratulations TJ. I know you love hunting those stinky pigs, and you are very good at it. Glad to see that this year your story of success did not include recuperating for a few days before you head back out.

Very nice deer. That will be a great looking mount. -
We all love this site and many of us spend a lot of of time on it. So many of our members have expertise in different areas, I am starting this post to acknowledge some of those members for their contributions. First is Amanda for creating the best hunting site on the web. This is not an easy task. She has to balance the interests, and emotions of members to promote an effective forum without allowing a few to blow it up. Red Rabbit. Doug has a real gift for photography. He openly shares this gift with us regularly. I often wonder if he has ever taken a bad picture? Chef. Hector is a wealth of information about cooking. He is not just a collection of recipes, but really understands the science behind the taste. Bill Quimby and Tony Mandile. These two have not only experienced decades of Arizona hunting, but they have recorded it and often share with all of us. They serve as the unofficial historians of this site. Lark. Some of the posts get pretty involved. Lark has the ability to state what many are saying in a way the rest of us can appreciate it. These are just a few of the havens of excellence on this site, I know there are many more. Please give recognition to them.

Intentionally rude or just ignorant?

It amazes me that anybody can hit a live animal with traditional stuff. I would have better luck just trying to stab them with an arrow. Congratulations!
-
It's never too late to share a great hunt. Congratulations, and thanks for posting!

Come on Paul Harvey, tell us the rest of the story.

Intentionally rude or just ignorant?

This is a slippery slope. Hunter against hunter, both legally partaking in a beloved activity. The divide and conquer tactic is an age old favorite of the anti's. -
Santa Rita Copper Mine
Pine Donkey replied to couesbowhunter1's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
Where did you get these numbers? Currently Rosemont Copper has double that amount employed in the Tucson area and the mine has not even begun. Mines of this size take hundreds, if not thousands of people to operate. There has been so much misinformation about this project, I am just wondering what the basis of your comment is.
