Unfilled Tag, But lots of Fun
Bryson Bendall replied to IHunt2live's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
Yeah that crap makes me sick. Poachers are losers. I also kept the tag in the wallet this weekend. Hiked for miles and only saw 5 deer. It was a new area for me that I am trying to scout out for my leftover oct. tag in unit 34B. However, the highlight of the weekend came friday evening as I glassed up my first mountain lion. I only watched him for about 30 seconds but he sure was a brute. And he scared up a seventy inch three point too. Unfortunately I only had my bow, and that lion was inbetween the buck and I so I didn't go after the seventy incher, But it was awesome. -
Question on eye dominance
Bryson Bendall replied to coocoo4coues's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
Dude me too. Kinda sucks. I started out shooting right handed and using my left eye. I had a bow with a shorter draw length and I could get my head far enough over but i was real inconsistant. And my dad gave me his bow, a slight upgrade, and a longer draw length. So now i've trained myself to use my right eye. Weird I know, but my shooting has improved and i've shot a coues, an elk, and many a rabbit with that style. So...you can try that if you want. I do have both eyes open as I aim but the actuall aiming is done with the right eye. I use a medium sized peep sight and a regular bow sight. -

Holy SMOKES, well it looks like someone found the bulls. Good job guys. Now just keep um where you want um and don't let them out of your sight. Good luck this season guys! -
Nice fish, and nice boat. This past week i found a little pond about 15 minutes from my house with some bass in it and I am STOKED. Took the little bro out last night (8 yrs. old) who is just as addicted as I am now and all together we caught seven. I caught a nice 3 pounder and a 1 1/2 and a couple little ones. And he caught a couple little ones, but he had a blast. We're going tomorrow and I'll bring the camera. GOTTA LOVE BASS FISHIN. Once again nice fish Coosefan, I bet he put up a fight.

What do ASU grads call U of A grads......................................................BOSS Why do ASU grads put their ASU license plate on the dash of their car ....................................... SO THEY CAN PARK IN HANDICAP PARKING yeah those are pretty lame I know. But U of A is kick butt, and I can probably count the number of times ASU has beat U of A in basketball on one hand. GO CATS!!!

Favorite fish peice from last year
Bryson Bendall replied to Lance's topic in Non-hunting trip reports
Here is a pic of some good times at Big Lake up in the beautiful White Mountains last summer (also where i harvested a 6 x 6 elk with my bow last year) . That is Daniel in the middle (aka. shortshooter on this site) and my buddy Trent on the right. Trent is currently in Spain serving as a missionary for the Mormon church and Daniel leaves on Wednesday for Portland, Oregon to do the same. I don't get to leave for another couple of months...yeah no one to fish with this summer...oh well i'll get over it. -
DAN YOU FREAKING STUDD! Hey i think i'm gonna come hunt down in sv a couple of days next week i'll tell you when and everything.

Well i'm back from college for the weekend so I thought I'd slap up some pics of my bow kills. The coues was shot opening day last summer and the bull was shot last weekend in unit one next to big lake. The bull is probably one of those sattelite 290's that everyone has been passing up on the first weekend, but for a first elk, archery, and a bull, i couldn't resist flinging an arrow after i had stalked in to twenty yards. Hopefully the pics turn out.

Another lady hunter scores
Bryson Bendall replied to azpackhorse's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
GEEZE leave some bucks for us guys! haha jk. What unit was it in? I hunted this weekend and had the same wind, it was a pain. Never saw a buck though. -
This might be dumb question but where can I find the pope and young record book entries for az coues deer? I checked on the Pope and Young site and all they have are the world records.
-
Record book entries?
Bryson Bendall replied to Bryson Bendall's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
thanks guys, i'll see if i can grab one at the library or something -
Hey Tyler I remember you. As a matter of fact your dad was my history teacher in seventh grade. Yep you played tennis with brett back in the good old days (like four years ago). How is life treating you?
-
it sure did. right off of the east side.

Now that would be the best mission in the world!

Thanks everyoneYeah i'm definitely proud of them both, especially that bull. Took three weekends to get familure with the area and some serious hard work. We have the perfect spot for him on the wall in our house, when he's done i'll slap some pics of the room on here, it is pretty sweet. I will tell you what though, it was one heck of an experience, i loved every minute of it, waking up at 3:30, locating bulls, getting in close, oh it was awesome having them bugle right in your face. I actually had a 350 class bull at 10 yards the morning before but he never came out from behind the bush. Got it all on film too. And we had a bull the weekend before the hunt at SEVEN yards that was a little bigger than mine. Oh if you ever get a chance to hunt these magnificent animals, especially when they are rutting their heads off, you won't ever forget it. I am one blessed kid i will tell you what, i won't be complaining about nothing for a very long time. Now i just got to close the deal on one more coues before i become a missionary for my church. I'll be scouting hard. Thanks again to everyone for all the comments.

Kaibab or unit 1 draws
Bryson Bendall replied to coueshunter's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
I got an 18th b-day present when i saw i drew a early unit 1 bull archery tag. Can't wait. (Hey coues die hard congrats on the 34a draw, that's right where i live and i've been out quite a bit and seen a couple bruiser bucks. got a couple pics of one, good luck, its a sweet area) -
I need Help oct. 35a hunt
Bryson Bendall replied to mulie hunter's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
Congrats on the draw mulie hunter! well i've hunted the area (primarily the front and back side of the huachucas and the area around parker lake for about the last 8 years and this will be the first fall in a long while that i wont be hunting there ( i'll be busy slaving away at college, oh and hunting as much as possible over by thatcher). So basically I'll tell you that the huachucas are chalk full of nice shooter size bucks, and according to what i have seen there are always tons of spikes and forks and a few 3 to 4 points in every canyon, north and south side. About every canyon has one or two 90inch bruisers too but of course around october they completely dissapear and you wont see them until the rut or maybe even the next spring. To be honest the october hunt is tough, but you will see deer in the hills and you will see bucks, quality bucks probably not but maybe. The parker lake area is absolutely full of deer as well, however they are a little harder to rifle hunt I think because their aren't many great vantage points to get up on. But what you might want to try to do is get out during the august-september archery season. That is when i have had the best success at seeing nice quality size bucks, especially over by parker canyon. We are talking about 30 deer a day, 5-6 bucks 1 or 2 of them shooter size. But of course get out and scout your tail off find those vantage points, glass the canyons and glass some more, and when your done with that, glass some more. Sorry about rambling on so long but 35a is my cup of tea. good luck, Bryson -
Same here, 8 bonus points, unit 1 early hunt i am freakin STOKED! I cant wait. I'm actually going to the feed store today to grab some haybales.

Neat finds while roaming the hills
Bryson Bendall replied to GRONG's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
All of you have probably found dead stuff like this, but this was kinda cool because of how well preserved it was. This was a baby coyote skull I found in the bottom of a wash where the coyote had apparently died because the rest of the body bones were laying right next to it. All of the teeth were in place and I was pretty stoked to find it. It's resting on a couple of antlers i've found in the past on a shelf in my bedroom. (I hope the pic works) -
Well lets look at it close now. The left half of the elk are looking one way and the majority of the right half is looking all one way as well. Every single elk is in the water. Wouldn't you think there would be atleast ONE elk outside on the bank. and thirdly look at the calf in the front center, doesn't it look like he is standing higher and more out of the water than the cow right behind him. It just looks like someone had a lot of free time on their hands if you ask me.

Coues in Rut in the Rain?
Bryson Bendall replied to matthewp45's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
It was raining down here the other day like crazy with about 30mph winds. But i went out anyway cause my time was getting shorter, so i headed out to the same area as usual and saw the two biggest bucks i've seen all season, both 4 by 4's and in the 80 to 90 class. I got a shot at one and hit a tree about 20 ft. in front of him. I saw several other deer that day as well. I think that the bucks know that none of there predators, including hunters, will move in that kind of weather. So i think the thought they would be safe. But, who knows.
