Yeah the kids thought they were ufo's. We had a good show from Copper Creek rd looking back toward Mammoth

My 10 yr old daughter,Lauryn,killed her first deer at 150 yds 2 shots. She must have been nervous i'm sure because the first shot knocked it out and it went down.(later found she hit the antler) i gave her a high five then it got back up and shook it's head. She got on him again and nailed him in the chest. The buck was a mature 2x2. I sent pics to Amanda so hopefully she will post them soon,thanks Amanda. She just completed her hunter safety course Oct. 5 so she had been ancy about the hunt since. We had a bonus also as a group of coati mundi ran from behind the deer after she shot,no shot on them but it was cool to see them.

Thanks guys the kids had a blast just riding the ranger around. i was in 32 this weekend with my nieghbor and saw a lot of deer 8 bucks opening morning but he missed. Oh well i got a lot of practice glassing up around 45 different deer all weekend. can't wait to be in 24a for my hunt after Thanksgiving. good luck to everyone who still have yet to hunt.

I was just saying that to my kids about being grateful just to be out enjoying all of Gods creations creations. They sure enjoyed are last hunt even her brother said he was glad his sister harvested a deer even though he didn't. He said it's all about the hunt dad not the kill. Man i'm lucky. My prayers go out to your friends family and i hope he is as comfortable as he can be and she is able to find work close to home if not from home.

Doug i completely forgot to enter my kids in the contest. They have a hunt starting the 22nd of Oct. Is is too late?

Well I spent the weekend in Globe at mom's house and got to see some nice deer. opening weekend i ran into mostly does until I came to a canyon that produced a nice palmated buck who was running with a decent 3x3,promising for the critter's Oct hunt. I ended up fishing on the Rez and caught alot of fish which made it fun. Saturday I stayed in town and went yard sale shopping with my brother in law(he's a collector) and I think I scored a good buy on a Johnson Sea Horse 2.5 outboard motor for 10 bucks. I found it online and looks to be 1947-49 and i'm looking forward to restoring it if possible. This engine complete with just a few scratches so hopefully it will run when cleaned and i found alot of info about this model and year online even parts and manuals and decals. Oh yeah back to the hunt, my brother and hunting partner was sick this weekend so i ended up just turning it into a scouting trip. It sure was green north of Globe and it sure was nice to be out there on opening weekend. Good luck to everyone else and i hope we have pics soon with 2 deer.

My wife's uncle lives in sells and dating a gal from that rez. He told me that you just have to be escorted by a tribal member but not sure of a tag to bring it across onto state land as he just takes it home. I'll find out more and see if his girlfriend has a sister for you.Lol

I fished the stock ponds, seems like i have more luck there than Seneca. The kids like to fish there as well they get tired of catching fish though. Good luck to you all .

Congrats on the 2 deer. Thats the tuff thing about the early hunt here in AZ it turns into a race for the ice chest. Maybe your buddy will share a leg or two.

Hope your back on your feet soon, but don't rush it. Enjoy your time off and have a complete recovery. (I hear Chalo's downsized their portions so your good to eat there) That's both good and bad though!

If you see a deer and you lose your breath for a sec. or you say something like "oh my gosh" shoot. He'll be big enough and you should be happy.

The kids drew 24a oct tags and I got 24a nov tag. This is my daughters first draw now off to the hunter safety course,and she's a little annis oakley with the 22-250
