Wannakillabigbull,You're doing it right by being excited for having the tag.I have hunted 7W my whole life having killed my first bull there in 1967,The road from Parks north through Spring Valley all the way to 180 pretty much splits the unit in two. There will be elk on either side,East-West of this road all the way from I-40 to the 180.The elk will be in pockets from now until the season as they don't migrate much as your used to in Colorado.Kendrick,Sitgraves Mtn.Red Hill are areas that you should become familiar with.Take your optics and you will find the elk

I killed a bull about 10 years ago on that hunt.At that time there was a core area that you were not allowed to access, no one. Then there was a buffer area, between the core, and the state land, this is where you could hunt. This was all torn up with rubs, trails, and elk signThe elk definatly know where you can go,and can't.They will head into the core and drive you crazy, wanting them to come out. That said I killed a small 6point that I called out on the southwest side.I know this is somewhat dated info, but I haven't applied for it again.Enjoy your hunt

I have a Mathews Drenalin,60-70#,29" draw,HHA movable pin sight, ready to shoot, only needs a quiver.I put a winners choice string and cables on it about a year ago,but haven't shot it much since then,as it was my backup bow.$400.00

I can't remember exactly when I got them, but it was 2006-2007.I would take $1450.00 for them.
-
I think that I would call Game and Fish rather than go on a forum to ask a question that might get you a ticket.

The metal tags had a piece of heavy paper that the metal went through that stated the name and address of the person, tag number etc.It didn't state the unit as back then most of the state was open.Kaibab had a seperate tag,and this was on the paper. They went to the tag, they have now in 1973,after my dad retired in 72.
