DCS replied to cmc's topic in Conservation Group Events
Thank you Amanda,it was another great time.It was good seeing TJ and Peg,and also Roger and Ilene.Amanda bought 2 tables just for the veterans,we all owe you a tip of the hat.Cliff -
I'm happy for you,I drew my desert tag 5 years ago after applying 39 years.

So sorry for your loss,I've got a border collie that I try to forget how old she is,cos I don't want to face it.Lance said it best, puppies help ease the pain.
-
I feel your pain joe hunter,I'm old so I won't be around as long as my kids. They are the ones I feel sorry for.

Got a new bird dog
DCS replied to hunter1026's topic in Small Game, Upland Bird, and Waterfowl Hunting
Dogs and kids go together like peas and carrots!!!Congrats on a fine addition to the family. -
I slept in a hammock for a year in the bush in Vietnam, had a hard time for the first couple of weeks at home in a bed.The hammock was a lot better than an air mattress,as the leeches, and snakes couldn't reach you.A hammock is fine as long as it is fairly warm,if it is very cold you will freeze to death. Not enough insulation between you and the air.Cliff

I'm with swivelhead on this one,why even bring up Tony's name? The only person that Tony had to please with his sheep was himself. He had applied more years for sheep than most of the peanut gallery is old so give the guy a break.

In March another member, and I went to a "whitetail Bootcamp" in Iowa that Barry Wensel puts on.He told us a story about a trail cam contest that his brother won,the prize was a top of the line Stealthcam. Now get this, this was a national contest,he received not the camera that was promised, but a lesser camera. To make matters worse, the camera he was sent did not work,so he contacted Stealthcam. They told him to put it on a table, turn it on,face down for 30 days, and then contact them if it didn't work. After doing all of this it still didn't work,he called them, and they told him there was nothing they could do as his warranty had run out!!!! Unbelievable customer servce.

Vaquero outfitters charged with chasing antelope
DCS replied to Explorer's topic in Antelope Hunting
You guys are getting way off the subject,I thought the thread was about Chad Smith, and the helicopter. -
Go ahead and buy the Swarovski's HD 15x56,you will never regret it.And yes there is a reason everyone is upgrading to the HD's.

The beaver that was released yesterday was up on the OX ranch. My son was one of the people carrying the kennel to the water. This was on Date Creek,by the Joshua Forest, off of 93.

You don't know how refreshing it is Jim, to hear something positive about someone else.I have never met you,or Josh, but I follow you guys every day in the Forum. You,Randy, and Josh, are hunting machines.Merry Christmas to all,and Happy Hunting.

Nice bull for sure, don't see 412 with broken sword point, but nice for sure-especially 1965.

I'm all for giving Amanda a tip of the hat for this website,we all are very blessed.Happy Thanksgiving all-.

Nice bucks, thank you for your service,as for score,I would guess around 103-106 gross.
-
Really nice buck,Congrats!!!

I'm afraid that you are right, they are giving you opportunity to hunt, but there are no deer.
-
I don't want to discourage you,but I live in 20C,and I don't hunt here.My family has been ranching here since 1920,and along in the 1950's-1960's we would see over 100 deer a day riding horseback. Now, it's a rare sight to see a deer, let alone a buck.Too many tags, too many hunts. The best advice I can give you on 20C,if you hunt it is to bring a deer with you.

It's not a bad idea to lap any rings,no matter the brand. This will make it true, and you will never put any marks on a scope again.
-
I've got a 1987 in good shape for 3500.
-
Runningfool,I don't want to hijack your thread, but if you are in fact at camp Pendleton,or service related there is the possibility of Ft Huachua.Plenty of Coues, mule deer, javelina, lions ,turkeys, varmits, and limited people.

Rumor has it around Prescott that it was the ORO ranch,it should be interesting.

I have been carring this gun since the Aurora shootings. It's small enough that I always have it.I killed a 3 year old female lion with it last Dec while cutting Christmas trees on the ranch.I would take my 45 if I knew I was going to a gunfight, but I always have my 380.

My kids shot several deer, and a pile of pigs with the 223.I've also shot several bulls[cattle] weighing up to 1900 lbs with it.The only trouble with it was shooting the bulls in the ear with Hornady v-max 55 gr.It was too thin on the jacket, wouldn't penetrate enough. The 55gr soft point worked fine. Also, one of my friends kids, has shot several deer,4 cow elk,and a big tom lion in the ribs, all with one shot apiece.Good Hunting
