Kaibab archery Cow Buffalo - aug 12th---25th

G&F recommending aiming for the heart. Tough animal that can get back on the Park after being hit. No experience on my part, since my hunt does not start until September 23.
  2. Anyone heard if any Bison were taken on the hunt that ended today? Also good luck to the archery hunters starting their hunts tomorrow.

Has anyone heard of any bison being taken on this hunt yet. Good luck to those on this hunt.

    SPOT or Sat Phone?

My brother carried a SPOT. While hiking the Az Trail. Pretty cool because it allows people you give permission to the ability to watch your progress on their computer. It allows you to send short preloaded messages also. Better yet is the ability to send a SOS which will allow rescue efforts to respond right away. For a small fee you can purchase $100,000 worth of emergency insurance. My opinion, this is a great devise for the money if a person hunts off the beaten path, especially if they hunt alone.
  5. I am looking for your recommendations for a SD card reader for IPhone 6 and IPad. I'm not a real tech savvy guy and looking for feedback from those that use theirs in the field for checking game cameras.
  6. Thanks guys, that's why I posted as I have heard some negative things. Hate to waste$ and be frustrated. I'll get the Apple cable.

Any Bison taken in the hunt that ended today

Thanks, I corrected. I had understood a week ago that no Bison had been taken. Sounds like things did not get a lot better.

    After the trigger is pulled

Just a few questions to those who have hunted on Kaibab, as well as had success. Where can you get a shower? Any GPS coordinates for cell service? Recommendation on meat processors. Taking meat to a Utah processor is an option if the processor has an excellent reputation for quality work. Anyone use the Carabou brand game bags or other brands? Anyone send their hides directly to a tanner they would recommend? I will not be doing a mount, but would like to have the hide tanned with hair on. My brother is a trapper and will be able to flesh properly. Any recommendation for items you were glad you had with you or recommend taking? Anyone have a video on breaking down your bison on he ground. I have skinned, quartered and packed out deer and elk but I am always open to hints and tips. Thanks in advance Phil Coues3pt@gmail.com

    After the trigger is pulled

Thanks guys for the information so far. Nick my wife thinks I already have enough guns. I have been itching for a short range weasel gun, guess I now have a good reason now. What do you recommend for Ground squirrels Solids or Soft Points? LOL

Heat's 2016 Kaibab Cow Bison Hunt

    Great job and story Nick!!!
  12. Most guys don't like to share where they hunt because before you know it they are on social media bragging about their annual hunts. The birds are in small numbers and can not take a lot of pressure. That's why a lot of Mearns quail hunters won't take people out with them. You might think they could keep things confidential but nope, before you know it you pull up to your favorite spots and find the guy you took and asked to keep it confidential is parked there with his other buddies. For me it's an honor to be invited on a hunt, and as a guest should keep my promise, but for some unfortunately it is not to be.

    Any successful hunters?

Thank you for the information. Was this cow taken using a guide, or was it a do it yourself hunt? Would enjoy talking to successful or unsuccessful Bison hunters. Phil 520-975-0830

    Any successful hunters?

Was this last week? Was this on the Kaibab? Hope I will be so lucky.
  17. It appears I was drawn for a tag starting September 23 in the Kaibab. I would appreciate hearing from others that get drawn for this hunt, as well as from hunters who have hunted buffalo in the past during this time of year. I would enjoy talking anyone whether you were successful or not and if you used a guide or did it on your own. Thanks Phil Coues3pt@gmail.com 520-975-0830

    WTB Live Quail

Most of us train with Bobwhite quail. There is no issue using these for training or field trials in AZ. You can get a free permit from G&F to train in the field with them. I buy mine here in Tucson. If you can not find any PM me and I will get you in touch with guys that raise them. Usually run $5.00 to $6.00 each.

    WTB .410 Shotgun

Get him a nice 20 gauge and purchase some 2 1/2" low pressure loads from RST shotgun shell company. A little pricy but still the least expensive part of a hunt. I shoot them almost exclusively. You want your kids hunts to be successful, yet without punishing recoil. I'll even donate a box of these shells to get him started. 410's in The right hands can be quit effective. On the other hand can can be disappointing for a young hunter that is just getting into the sport of hunting. This may go against conventional wisdom, but I think you will be pleased with the results.

    any tile floor installers here?

Terry ( 25-06) just completed two jobs for me. 800 sq feet. I could not be more pleased with the outcome. Workmanship was first class. Trustworthy and professional. If you are needing some tile work done, do yourself a favor and give Terry a call. He hooked me up with the tile company he recommended and the tile was half of what I priced else where. This is the 2nd time I have used guys from the CWT forum, Stewart plastering on my pool and now Terry. Sure nice to work with professionals.

    Need ceramic flloor installed

A few years ago I had a great experience working with a Local CouesWhitail member and his company in having my swimming pool restored. It worked out very well. I now need to have some tile work done in my home and a rental about ( 600 sq..). I like to barter and have some quality firearms to trade, trade plus cash, etc. located East side Tucson. I supply materials or you supply, what ever works best. I prefer to work with a company or individual that does this for a living and has their own equipment.. If you are interested PM me, and we can discuss Phil
