  1. Also wanted to mention that we're not looking to get any money out of the deal, just want to know he's going to a good home is all. Thanks for looking.
  2. He has been outside exclusively since about 1 year old, before that he did ok in the house. To be honest he still has some of the bad lab puppy tendencies but they have gotten better in the past year.
  3. Yeah he was just playing rough, we went along time with them playing together without an incident though. He mouthy when he plays but never was an big issue before. He has been around other labs and my dad gsp, he is good with them but pesters them to play a lot. And he has only been dove hunting a few times and did ok for no experience, other than that just a family dog. Ps. My son is fine now thanks
  4. He ended up biting our son on the head while playing, it wasnt an aggressive deal (never once been aggressive) but it was hard enough to require stitches. Although it was just an accident we dont want to risk it happening again and would like to find a home that doesnt have small children.
  5. Just wanted to update this thread. We have had a few people come look at him but haven't found the right match yet. To give some more info, he weighed 103# when we got his shots in March (everyone has been surprised by his size when hey see him). Also he has been fixed. Would love to find someone from the website that may share some of the same values/interests we have. Thanks for looking.
  6. I have a mearns quail I woul like to get mounted, anyone have any recommendations (in the valley please)? Also, what price should I expect for a single quail mount? Thanks

    Taxidermy Nightmare!

Anymore updates on this? I was very disappointed to see this on their website as I was planning on using them again. For what it's worth, I used them for an antelope and a bobcat in the past few years and they were great, competitive prices and unbelievable turn around times, both done from start to finish in under 6 weeks (another local taxidermist took over 2.5 years to tan the bobcat hide so I picked it up and took them to Jeff's place)! Sad to hear and I hope everythin turns out well for OP.
  8. I am hoping someone has some input for me regarding fluid pan heads. I have a Slik 330 EZ tripod (that came with a pan head) that I really like (used for 15x binos). Unfortunately it seems the head is starting to get a little jerky or choppy as I pan from side to side (only been through 3 seasons or so). This is not a huge deal but it is starting to bug me a little. I have been doing as much research as I can but am even more confused now. It seems people really like the manfrotto heads and I am particularly interested in hearing about the 128RC and the 701HDV (probably not willing to go above these in price). They both seem to have great reviews. The 128RC is cheaper but would I be giving up something by not getting the 701HDV? Also, my research has shown that neither are "true fluid heads", does this really matter (will they not be jerky like the slik head)? Also, it seems that these heads can only operate in an x and y direction (seems strange as my slik head can go diagonally when panning, or maybe I'm understanding this wrong). Couple more questions: Am I able to put a manfrotto head on slik legs? Is there a fix for the slik head (thought I read I am never supposed to lubricate it)? What sub $200 legs would you recommend for one of these manfrotto heads for 15x glasses? Thanks for the help

    Tripod Head and Legs Help

Another couple of questions. Is there anywhere to see the jim white head in the valley? I hate to purchase something like that before ever seeing it. Also, if I order it from the site's store, how fast am I able to get it? If I understand correctly Amanda lives in Globe, is driving there to get it an option? Still not sure if I'm ready to spend that much money on a tripod head but you guys are pretty convincing... Thanks

    Tripod Head and Legs Help

Also, What's everyone's take on latch vs twist lock systems to secure the legs in place? My slik has the latch/snap style and I really like those, I feel like I may not like the twist mechanism but maybe there's a good reason for them.

    Tripod Head and Legs Help

Couple of questions: Can I glass standing with the promaster xc325c legs? (I'm 6 foot tall) Is there an adapter needed to attach the jim white head to these legs?

    road

I have the 5bs early archery tag and was thinking about heading up tonight to do some scouting. Any chance the bulls have started bugling yet? Am I even going to be able to drive the roads with all the rain we've received?
  13. I am thinking about getting a pop-up trailer in the near future. I was wondering if any brands seem to last longer and be higher quality than others? Are any of them junk and I should stay away from? Also, are there any special features that are especially nice to have or to avoid (a toilet seems completely pointless for me on one of those things)? Thanks

    Another tripod question

Just wanted to give an update. I went with the Slik 330 EZ tripod and couldn't be happier! I was able to go look at it at Sportsman's Warehouse before I bought it (which was nice). They said they can't hardly hold on to this model and they sell out quick. At approx $130 for the legs and included pan head, I don't think this set up can be beat. Took it out with my Vortex Kaibabs 2 days ago and was pleased. Tripod is sturdy yet lighter than I expected. I can glass standing up by bending down a little bit (6' tall). Head is extremely smooth (which was weird at first because I wasn't used to a smooth head). I only have 1 complaint and it is just personal preference, I feel the pan handle is a little too short. The operating manual claims that you can buy a longer pan handle for this model but I can't find it anywhere. If anyone knows where I can get this optional long pan handle please let me know. Otherwise for someone who doesn't want to spend the money on carbon set-ups I'm not sure this model can be beat. If you go to Sportsmans Warehouse (The Mesa Arizona one) you need to call ahead and see when they will be getting them in. Thanks everyone for your input.
  15. I have been attempting to research tripods as much as I can stand and am still not clear on which way to go so I figured I would post what I'm looking for and see if someone can help me out. Looking for: -Going to be used for 15x56 Vortex Kaibabs -$100-$150 legs -Would like to use the bogen 700 RC2 pan head -Would like to be able to stand glassing (I'm 6' tall) and be relatively steady in the light wind -Would like the leg adjustments to "clamp" rather than "twist" to lock in place -Would like it to be relatively lightweight but not flimsy (not carbon, generally too expensive) -Would prefer if the legs could adjust out to any positions rather than the typically 2 "locked" positions (let me know if this is confusing, may be able to explain better) -Would prefer black color, not sure if silver is too reflective -Would prefer if the legs were padded It seems several I am considering may fit these requirements but not sure on all the questions. Have considered: -Velbon Sherpa 600 -Slik Sprint Pro II (may be too flimsy) -Slik 330ez Will the ones I mentioned work for what I want? Does anyone have any other suggestions? If someone has a set-up they are looking to sale and they meet these requirements I am interested.
  16. Was able to connect on a decent little whitetail on the 30th. The deer were fully rutted up and a blast to watch. This was the best buck we saw and it was a bear to get to him and even more of a bear to get him out. It was all worth it though (at least when the packing out was done). Unit 32 success

They were actually all over the place. This one unfortunately was about as high on the mountain as you could get, but we were seeing them low as well. The rut was in full swing. Most bucks had 4-5 does with them, this one only had 1 doe and a smaller 2 point with him.
