I have been shooting 140 grain Nosler Accubonds from my 270 WSM and am not getting very good groups with them. I have been researching the Berger bullets. I am thinking about working up a load with the Bergers. Has anybody tried them in this caliber? Any experience with these in hunting applications? If so, how did they perform? Thanks, Josh

Oh man, there are some good ones on here! One that didn't happen to me but my brother-in-law was that we were on a guided elk hunt in Montana. His guide dropped him off at a water hole and he got set up in the blind. He sat there for about 2 and a half hours until he had about a 340 class bull come in at 35 yards. Chip shot... only no release!!! So he had to sit in the blind until dark and watch the other bulls come in and taunt him without being able to do a dang thing about it. That was the only day he saw bulls. (expensive mistake) A couple years back, my brother a buddy and I were on a javelina hunt in 33. This is a similar story to the other unit 33 story. Anyways, opening morning we spot a large group of them and got to about 200 yards of them. They were moving up and over a hill, so we decided to get set up for the shot. My brother and I had practiced the whole 1-2-3-shoot thing a thousand times growing up with our BB guns, and we felt like we had it perfected. So we decide I would take one on the left, my brother would take one in the middle, and our buddy would take the huge one on the right. When we were set up for the shot, the plan was to count to three and then all shoot at the same time. So, the count started "one" BOOM! Our buddy shot on one, the schmuck (he will likely read this as he is a member on here). Anyways, all heck breaks loose and pigs are running everywhere. He missed! Then my brother shoots and misses, and I shot at the only one standing still enough and dropped it. We spent the next 2 hours chasing those suckers all over that hill. My brother ended up getting one, but our buddy couldn't close the deal. He missed about 10 shots all together that morning, including 2 hip shots as we were too close to otherwise take aim. Good times.

So cool! Those things still freak me out man. Welcome.

The deer I shot at 235 yards had an exit the size of a tennis ball, and the heart was completely destroyed as were the lungs. The damage to meat was minimal. The 650 yard shot had no exit wound, was gut shot but all of the vitals were like chunky soup. No bullet recovered and again virtually no meat damage. The 750 yard shot didn't break the deer's back but made it sick enough that it couldn't/wouldn't move. No exit wounds on that one either and no bullet recovered just a couple fragments here and there. I think those bergers literally just split into tons of different pieces and shred up the insides of animals. All in all, I am a believer now. And thanks Houston, it was a great experience. My dad can't stop talking about his "650 yard shot" and it makes me proud.

I posted this in an old thread yesterday, but figured I would share with the rest of you that aren't interested in reloading. I didn't post these last year and just now getting around to it. I am pushing 140 grain Bergers with 59 grains of RL 22 and getting great accuracy with my 270 WSM. After switching to this load last year, in October my gun took 3 out of 4 deer from camp. My deer was shot at 235 yards and if not for the steep terrain would have likely died about where it stood. A buddy and fellow member on here shot his at 750 yards and my dad took his at 650 yards. My dad's shot was truly a lifelong memory I will have. It was his longest shot ever and to do it with just one shot was a thrill for him. The 750 yarder needed another shot to put it down for good but when we found it (pretty much where we shot it) it wasn't going anywhere. The first shot hit pretty high and to the back. Needless to say, I am very impressed with the way the Bergers perform. Both accuracy and terminal performance. In fact, I have finally convinced my brother to let me load him up some for his 300 WSM. I will be using either RL 22 or H4831sc with magnum primers pushing a 168 grain Berger. So if anyone has any suggestions on this caliber, that would be great. None of the deer from last year were big, but the distances made it really exciting. Here are just a couple pics: My dad's buck before he shot it. My dad's buck with me and my brother. It was a little 2x3 but super cool. All our deer. First time my dad had ever taken an animal with any of his sons being there. And two of his sons also took animals. It was a year to remember!!!!

I am selling this for a buddy on here. He literally just bought this yesterday. The gun has never been fired. He just doesn't like the way it fits in his hand afterall. The gun is a .45 caliber it is the full size and has Trijicon Night Sights on it. It has 3 clips that hold 13 rounds. Comes with everything you see in the picture. He is asking $600 for it. I took my 6 year old out there last week while I shot a few rounds. The rules say no kids under 6. I get there and the range master tried telling me I could not bring him in. After I pointed out the rule to him, he reluctantly let me bring him in, of course there was a charge for that. It is almost like they are discouraging youngsters from getting involved in the sport. It's sad.

The Gun Claw.

I have one and all I know is without it my groups are around 2 inches at 100 yards and with it my groups are under an inch at 100 yards. I shoot a tikka t3 lite in 270 wsm. The doughnut is 2 inches from the end of the barrel.

I just reload some bergers for my tikka 270 wsm and sighted them in. They shoot great. I also put a deresonator on mine. Now it is shooting a lot better. I love those tikkas.
